He finished speaking and threw the bouquet at me, but I failed to catch it.
The stems grazed my delicate cheek, a sharp sting that sent warmth sliding down my face.
Fabian looked flustered, stepping closer.
“Palma, I…
I quickly stepped back, putting some distance between us.
The bright red petals fell and stained my collar.
I was about to snap when, out of nowhere, Fabian grunted, then collapsed into the nearby
shrubbery.
His crisp suit was now dirty with fallen leaves.
I snapped back to reality and saw Quinn, his fist slightly bruised, still trembling.
Seeing me look at him, Quinn quickly reined in his emotions. “Are you alright?”
My palm was slick with sweat.
Quinn’s face drained of color as he moved to pick me up, but Fabian blocked him.
Then, Fabian gripped my arm tightly.
“Palma, I’m taking you to the hospital.”
His grip was painful, and I couldn’t help but gasp in discomfort.

“Did he send you the flowers? Palma, have you already found someone else?” Thadn’t expected Fabian to say something like that.

“If you keep this up, she’ll have a permanent scar on her face,” Quinn’s cold voice cut through the air. His eyes were deep.
Fabian glared at Quinn, then turned his gaze back to mo.
Blood had already started to trickle from between my fingers.
Feeling the pressure ease on my arm, Quinn forcefully pushed past Fabian and gently
placed me in the passenger seat before speeding off.
The sting on my cheek was still there.
I glanced at Quinn, whose face was still as cold as over as ho drovo. I spoke softly, “I’m fine. Slow down, okay?”
Quinn’s expression softened slightly. “No, if it scars, that’ll bo oven worso.”
With that, he sped up.
I lowered my head, warmth blooming in my chost.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was Fabian calling.
I declined the call, but he didn’t give up and dialod again.
Before I could reject it again, the car came to a halt.
Quinn grabbed my phone from mo. “Maybe you should focus on your procious lovor.”
With that, he hung up and handed the phone back to me. Fabian didn’t call again.
Sitting in the storile–smelling hospital room, I gritted my tooth against the pain as the doctor carefully tended to my wound.
Quinn stood beside me, unable to stop talking.
“Doctor, will she leave a scar? How long until she can wash her face? Any foods sho should avoid? Does she need to stay overnight?”
The doctor shot Quinn an exasperated look.
After applying the last piece of tape, the doctor removed his gloves. “Don’t worry, your wife is
fine. Just make sure she gets plenty of rost. Don’t got the wound wot.”
At the mention of “wife,” I lowered my head, my chooks suddenly flushed with
embarrassment.
Out of the corner of my oyo, I saw Quinn’s hands trombling slightly.
His ears turned bright red as he stammered, “Okay, okay, I got it. Thank you, thank you.” The doctor shook his head, his tone woary.
“Remember to come back to change the dressings.”
Quinn helped me out of the examination room, and to my surprise, wo ran into Fabian and
Julie.
Julie had a bandage wrapped around her wrist, her face pale as she leaned weakly agc
Fabian.
“I only have you, Fabian,” she murmured.
As she said this, she looked up and froze upon seeing mo, then snuggled closer into Fabian’s

arms.
Fabian followed her gaze to me.
I was still in Quinn’s arms.
His face darkened. “We’re not divorced yet. Could you please be more careful?”
Quinn shot back without missing a beat. “You know you’re not divorced, so who are you holding in your arms?”
Fabian’s face grew more pained as he looked at me. “Julie cut her wrist because of you. It’s
only natural I take care of her.”
Julie’s face lit up with a sweet smile at his words.
I suddenly felt exhausted.
It seemed I always had to play along with their little drama.
“Let’s go.” I didn’t acknowledge Fabian as I grabbed Quinn’s arm and walked away.
As we brushed past Fabian, he finally noticed the bandage on my face.
“You…”
Before he could finish, Julie winced in pain, and Fabian immediately shifted his attention to
her, carefully adjusting the bandage on her hand.
I had already been completely forgotten.
