Chapter 2

- 9.
The body was still a virgin.
Ethan visibly relaxed.
Yeah, in his eyes, I was already a total slut.
He finished the autopsy and reached for his
phone.
Just some texts from Mia.
Nothing from me, like always.
He got pissed and furiously typed a message.
く
“Jenny, last warning. Don’t come back.”
Ethan, I’m standing right next to you, but you
can’t see me.
I heard some cops talking nearby.
“Miller’s daughter, Lily, went missing for a
few hours. Came back traumatized. Can’t
speak.”
“Yeah, she’s clutching a strawberry barrette.
Won’t let it go.”
“Strawberry barrette.”
ᄀ
Ethan spun around.
He rushed to the hospital to see Lily, but Mia
stopped him.
She tried to hug him, but recoiled at the smell
on him.
Ethan frowned.
Mia changed the subject.
“Let’s get dinner, I know a great restaurant in the city!”
I had asked Ethan many times to go to that
<
I AU ASKEu can many unes lo yo to trial
restaurant, but he always said he didn’t want
to have dinner with trash.
Ethan’s face was grim.
Ethan ordered a ton of food, but he barely
touched it.
His eyes kept flicking to his phone.
Mia noticed and put down her fork.
“I don’t know where Jenny is, but maybe I’m just wrong. I’m sure she’s having fun with her
friends.”
<
I slapped that green–eyed face.
Smack!
Ethan’s chopsticks flew out, hitting Mia in the
face.
Mia recoiled, looking hurt.
Ethan reached out, but stopped and grabbed
a napkin to wipe her face.
He sighed.
“Sorry. Don’t mention her when I’m trying to
have fun.”
<
“I’ll take you to a movie later.”
Late that night after the movie, Mia was
going on about the cinematography or
something.
Ethan seemed distracted.
I walked beside him, following his gaze up.
It was the moon, a full moon.
