“Why can’t one of you do it?” Christine cuts in, her nose scrunched in disgust.
Mason’s expression hardens, “You’re the reason we’re doing this in the first place. If I have to suffer through this, so do you.” His eyes flicker to me, softening slightly. “And we need to time this perfectly. One wrong move, and all this goes to hell. I won’t lose her because of you”
Christine’s mouth opens and closes like a fish, like she doesn’t know how to respond.

Christine glances at me, her expression unreadable, but there’s a look in her eyes. One that tells me maybe she’s jealous that I don’t have to hide beneath a mask anymore.
“Maybe you’d be a little less…stressed if you let go of this ridiculous idea that you have to be perfect to keep my brother, I continue. Tve seen the girls he dated before you, and trust me, they were far from perfect. And he wouldn’t have married you if a sex tape taken without your consent, or

I arch a brow, a thought immediately crossing my mind. “You’re the reason you’re not pregnant, right?”
She doesn’t respond, but the way her jaw tightens tells me everything I need to know.
