“Karen, our families have always relied on each other. Things don’t have to be this absolute.”
Their desperate attempts to guilt me were predictable. But I didn’t care what punishment Ferry faced. I had wasted enough years shackled to a loveless marriage. I had no sympathy left. Tears burned in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. My voice trembled as I spoke, but I didn’t hesitate.
“He was the one who betrayed me. Not the other way around. If my existence is an inconvenience to the
so–called ‘unity‘ of our families, then stop considering me a part of the Gardner Family.”
My mother gasped, but I pressed on, unwavering. “If I’m no longer your daughter, you won’t have to be embarrassed by me. You should just advise the Zach Family to accept Chindy’s baby because I will never give them an heir.”
Without waiting for a response, I ended the call. Then, with a sense of finality, I blocked my entire family from my phone. They had pushed me too far.

He stood there, drenched, his soaked clothes clinging to his frame. His usually neat hair was plastered to his forehead, rainwater dripping from his chin. He wiped a hand over his face and let out a sharp, bitter laugh.
“Call the police? Who doesn’t know you’re my wife, Karen?” His voice was raw, filled with anger and something dangerously close to desperation.
He took a step closer. “You ran halfway across the world just to shack up with another man, and you still think you have the moral high ground?”
His lips curled into a cold smirk. “Now I understand why you’re so heartless. You’ve already found someone
new, haven’t you?”
His breath came out in ragged gasps. “Do you even fucking know what I’ve been through these past few days?”
I stared at him, my expression unreadable. Did he think I would pity him? That I would forget everything he had
done because of a few nights of discomfort?
Since I landed here, I had been treated like a fugitive. My name was dragged through the mud. People branded
me a liar, a cheater, a woman who had no morals.
