“Amy, slow down. You’re gonna lose your
wig!”
I pulled my mask down.
“Relax. I checked it a bunch. And don’t you
think my makeup looks good? You can’t tell
I’m sick, can you?”
Sarah choked up.
“Your makeup skills haven’t improved.”
“Whatever. You have no taste.”
I turned away from the camera.
The camera picked up Jake’s voice.
“With you, every morning feels like forever,
you in my life, love turned the world to a
spectrum.”
I clapped.
“Amazing vocals. He’s way better than he
used to be! That’s my man!”
The fans were screaming.
“He wrote this for her! Brittany is Jake’s
savior!”
“He’s better off without Amy! He should’ve
dumped her a long time ago!”
“What do you mean?”
Sarah turned.
Saran turned.
I grabbed her, but it was too late.
She pushed me away.
“What’s wrong with Amy?”
The fan and her friends looked us over.
“Amy? A loser who held him back. She
dumped him when he had no money.”
“Wait, are you gonna stick up for that slut?”
“Who are you calling a slut?!”
Sarah dropped the phone.
I grabbed her, stopping her from charging
I smiled at the girls.
“Sorry about that. My friend’s a little
emotional.”
The fan sneered.
“At least one of you has some sense. He
wrote a song for his true love. Amy needs to
stay away.”
The concert camera landed on a woman in
the VIP seats.
Brittany sat there in a dress, standing out
from the other fans.
The audience screamed.
<
“Brittany!!”
Jake stood on stage and nodded at her.
The crowd went wild.
“They’re definitely dating! This is real!”
The camera turned to my face.
Sarah tested the water.
“Amy…”
