Chapter 8

They show up within thirty minutes. The security room fills up fast – evidence
collection, witness statements, curious onlookers crowding the door.
Turns out the cameras just got fixed. About fucking time.
I’m heading downstairs after signing my discharge papers when I see her. Ray’s
strutting around with some fancy lunch box, cooing into her phone to “Doc B,” looking smug as hell.
That smile vanishes when she sees me. She has no idea what’s coming.
Her eyes drop to my flat stomach, pure venom in her smirk.

“Sarah! Out so soon? Had the baby already? Why didn’t you tell Marcus?” Her voice
drips fake sweetness.
She covers her mouth in mock concern. “Oh right, he hasn’t unblocked you? I told
him that wasn’t nice. Let me talk to him—”
I don’t let her finish her little performance. I’m on her before she can blink.
My hand connects with her face so hard her earring rips straight through her lobe. Blood sprays as the jewelry hits the floor.
She screams, her phone clattering away. The lunch box crashes down, food
splattering everywhere.
People around us gasp, phones coming out to record. Let them watch.
“What are you—”
I grab a fistful of her perfect hair before she can finish.
She’s sobbing, mascara running, and I just laugh. “Hurts, doesn’t it? Can’t handle
it? Didn’t think about this when you attacked me, did you? Let’s see how you like
it!”
I grab her head with both hands and slam it into my knee. The crack of bone hitting bone is beautiful.
After a few more hits, she goes limp.
My vision’s getting blurry, but I’m about to drag her ass to the cops when I hear
Marcus:
“Sarah, you fucking psycho! What are you doing? STOP!”
“You want a divorce? Fine! Let her go!”

Next thing I know, his foot connects with my side. I fly back, hitting the ground
hard.
He scoops up his sobbing mistress, cradling her like she’s made of glass. Then it hits him. The baby. His face goes white as he looks at my flat stomach. “The baby?” His voice shakes. “What happened to our baby?”
