Chapter 86
Alyssa
The moment War takes over, 1 feel it. His posture changes, his shoulders square with a hardened, Unsettling confidence, his jaw sets with a sharpness completely different than Engan’s. His steel–gray eyes narrow and darken, arul a slow, wicked smick slichers across his face. The air seeins to thicken with a menacing mini- not like King’s, whose darkness feels protective and sale to me. No, this is different, like an unhinged, wild animal. holding off on rating you until it finds the perfect moment. Thit I still mean what I said…I trust Logan and his alter.
Ware
gaze sweeps over me, and then he leans in close, intuling deeply. His nose wrinkles with disdain as far pulls back. “Gross. You reek like a goddamn meadow” he grants, his voice way gruffer than Logan’s, He saunters over to the laur as he runs a hand through Isis short, brown hair, and drops into a seat. “Alex, pour the something stronger. Whiskey’s not gonna cut it.”
Alex doesn’t hesitate, grabbing a clear bottle and filling War’s glass to the brim. War’s gaze flickers back to me as he takes a slow drink before shifting his attention to the rest of the group. His expression is flat, almost bored. “Now that fun in the driver’s seat, let’s get this shit over with. I need to gri my dick wet.”
Okay, he’s definitely not what I expected,
But I keep my cool, returning to King’s lap.
- His arm curls around my waist, locking me in place. His low growl reaches my ears, thick with ma “My patience is very thin right now, kitten. You’re the only reason Hluven’t killed them yet”
“I know I whisper back, my fingers grazing over his tatted forearm in a soothing rhythm.
War watches us with intrigue for only a second, his gaze snapping back to Gray’s just as quickly, “Now that Logan isn’t here to cry about his precious. “Aly, the grownups can talk,” War sneers. “Bones had this whole pathetic plan to stage her kidnapping, but seeing that King’s claiming her as his ol‘ lady, this could work in our favor. When Isaac bears the news, he’ll show his face. And when he does, we’ll hand him over to your. That sound simple enough?
He speaks with complete disinterest, like this whole ordeal is barely worth histone.
Gray’s jaw clenches, his eyes blazing. “You really think we will want an alliance after this little stunt you pulled!”
“Logan pulled,” War corrects with a smirk. “I don’t have patience for his obsession with the little psychis, I’ve been over it for years. But hey, that’s his sickness to deal with, not mine.
Linde psycho? Anu………. Logan’s obsession!
“She gets
our protection” War continues. “And with our two MC joining forces, no one will clare fuck with us, and we won’t fuck with each other. I
say it’s a win–win”
Gray’s gaze snaps to King, then to Mason, who gives a slight nod, his expression hardening in a silent agreement. Finally, Gray nods. “Fine. But if anything like tonight happens again, we’re gonna have a fucking problem?
“TU make sure to pass that on.” War leans forward, shaking Gray’s hand like he’s sealing some trivial deal. Then he takes another swig from his glass, throwing a lazy glance around the room. “I guess you could stay if you’d like. The strippers are bout to come back out, and they give a solid blowjob
1 wrinkle my nose, grimacing. Besides the obvious- -two of the guys here are mine, and I have a small hope that Gray wouldn’t cheat on Christine, no matter how much I hate her. Though, I’m not sure how smart his decisions right now could be if I’ve silently watched him drink glass after glass of whiskey tonight
I guess I can’t really blame him. Tonight was a lot. For all of us, especially me. I just found out that I’m technically a murderer and dyt my brother and the three men I love executed my father. But even so, I’m not lening Gray ride a motorcycle intoxicated.
“Yeah, no,” I say sharply, gesturing to the bartender. “Alex, some water?” Alex brings over a glass, and 1 press it into Gray’s hand. “Sober the fuck up. You’re not getting on a bike like this.”
Gray rolls his eyes but brings the glass to his lips.
War lets out a low chuckle, his eyes glinting with amusement. Took at you, running shit. It’s almost adorable seeing a girl the size of my shoe barking orders at grown–ass men
I narrow my eyes at him. “Do you have a problem with me or something?
War shrugs, a wicked glint sparkling in his eyes. Tm just wondering where all of this was when your husband was beating on you for three years.” 1te tilts his head. “Why is he still alive, linle psycho?“.
His words sting, but I’m glad the others aren’t jumping in to defend me, even though I can feel King vibrating with barely–contained rage beneath

- me. I can’t look weak in front of War, he’ll eat me alive.
I meet his gaze head–on. “It’s not like I didn’t fight back. He just hit harder when I did. Retter to just not move and make a sound, let him get his anger out. At least I knew I’d probably be alive when he was done.”
War scoffs, the sound dripping with disdain. “What about the times he wasn’t hitting you! Don’t tell me there weren’t opportunities to smother him with a pillow or grab a knife. No
were too comfortable with the situation. That’s not the little psycho we knew, the one who killed Logan’s
uncle like it was nothing.
My hand twitches, the urge to punch him almost impossible to ignore. But then I remember Logan is in there somewhere, and if I hit War, 1 hit Logan.
y of that befor
before today. I didn’t know I was capable of.”
Shoring down my anger, I say, “I didn’t remember any
Murder.
The knowledge that I took someone’s life is still hard to digest, but Logan’s uncle…he kinda fucking deserved it. Just like Isaac will
War’s eyes pierce through my soul, and I catch a hint of Logan in them. “So, tell me Alyssa. Now that you know, when we bring him to you_are you going to be the one to take his last breath!”
My breath catches, his challenge hitting deep. King once offered to let me be the one to kill my husband, but that was during sex, and 1 don’t think he was being serious,
But something tells me War doesn’t joke around about shit like this.
I steal a glance at Gray. If he was able to look our father in the eye and kill him, I should be able to do the same to Isaac, right?
Tila
do it,” I say with conviction.
War gives me a satisfied smirk. “Good, I look forward to it”
Then, suddenly, his eyes squeeze shut, his face twisting as though he’s listening to something only he can hear. “Oh, shut the fuck up,” he matters. “I’m not pressuring her into anything, she’ll be fine”
They can speak to each other! Wow, that’s fascinating
“Fucking crybaby,” he mumbles, sounding exasperated. I study his face, realizing that even the first time War appeared, he seemed older, hardened in a way Logan isn’t. The thought nags at me, and Lean’t resist asking before we leave.
“Umm. War. how old are you?
He rolls his eyes. Thirty–one
“Like you’ve always been that age!”
“Yeah he replies flatly. “God, you ask a lot of questions. It’s fucking annoying
King makes a low, irritated sound, and I squeeze his hand. “It’s fine,” I whisper, low w enough for only him to hear. I don’t know much about DID, but despite being completely insufferable, War is here for a reason.
And Logan..he was my best friend once. I’d forgotten him, and he’s still the one who made Gray tell me the truth tonight. It’s only fair to try to rekindle that friendship, even if I have to deal with War in the process.
I look at War, keeping my voice even. “Tell Logan I hope to see him again. Next time, maybe we can do it without him holding us at gunpoint I rise from the King’s lap, feeling his hand slide into mine as we turn to leave.
“Sure, sure” War barely acknowledges us, already fixated on the naked strippers making their way back into the room.
Once we get outside, the cool night air hits, and I feel a sense of relief. I’m returning home to my daughter, and no one was killed. Sure, I’ve got a shitload of trauma to work through, but at least I’m alive to do it.
For tonight, that feels like a win
