Sitting in the car, Dad asked, “How did you

“The housekeeper saw Brittany in your room.

Dad turned pale. “Everyone knows about it?”
I said, “How did this happen?”
“Nothing happened.” Dad yelled. “I meant, we
are father and daughter!”
I stared at him.
Dad said, “Your mom left. The first night,
Brittany came into my room wearing a robe. I
read her to sleep.”
Dad went on. “Your sister isn’t as smart as
you. She asked me questions about what she
was reading.”
I rolled my eyes.
Dad made a face. “Then I noticed she was
being weird. She said she loved me and
wanted to be with me.”
I said, “She was dropping hints.”
Dad sighed. “What is this, incest?!”
He went on, “I think your sister had a mental
break after she was kidnapped. I wanted to
help her without saying anything.

I nodded. “So that’s why you had her coming
to your study? You were helping her?”
Dad said, “Yeah, it was not working. I thought
that if I took her to nature, it would help her.”
My dad liked going to be in nature.
“Are you serious?”
Dad covered his face. “Yeah, but then she
tricked me and took me to a hotel, and
started to take off her clothes. I was so
shocked.”
