Jultus eves were filled with disbelief “Do you really think I could do something like that to you? I would never hurt you!”
Jemima stared at him in silence before suddenly breaking into laughter. “You would never hurt me?” Her voice was filled with mockery “Hone do you even have the audacity to say that?”
“Do you really think I just found out about your affair with Nadine? I’ve known all along–every date, every hotel room you booked, every vacation you took with her.“Her voice softened, but the pain behind it was unmistakable.
She continued. “Have you ever felt like a knife was stabbing through your heart, but you couldn’t die? Like you were being torn apart day and night, trapped in a never–ending nightmare? Because that’s exactly what you put me through. And for what? What did I ever do to deserve it? How did 1 fail you?”
Julnus felt like the air had been knocked out of his lungs. Every word was like a blade cutting into him, filling his chest with unbearable regret. He had been blinded by his own emotions. He never truly wanted a divorce–he couldn’t lose her.
While they spoke. Scott had already turned his back. Whether intentionally or not, he positioned himself in front of Jemima, shielding her from view. The guests could only hear her voice, but they couldn’t see her expression
At that moment, group of uniformed officers entered the banquet hall. They walked straight toward the Stahl and Goodwin families, arrest warrants in hand. Nadine, Amanda, and Julius were all taken into custody.
Nadine wailed and screamed the entire time, but the Goodwin family could do nothing. The evidence was undeniable. And to make matters worse, Scott had stepped in as Jemima’s unexpected ally. The Stahl and Goodwin families had no choice but to contact their lawyers immediately.
The chaotic drama had finally come to an end.
The audience had been thoroughly entertained.
Without a doubt. Yhunwell’s high society would be buzzing about this for at least a week. Those who missed the spectacle would surely regret not being there to witness it firsthand..
Gradually, the banquet hall emptied as guests began making their way out.
Scott left with Zander
Jemima intentionally waited for him to leave before stepping outside. She didn’t hail a cab right away. Instead, she wandered to the park behind the hotel, eventually settling beneath a tree.
The dim lights cast a soft glow around her. Dressed in a striking red gown, she looked almost like a vengeful ghost–beautiful, yet haunting. She already knew the truth. She had figured out who was the mastermind and who was merely an accomplice.
Julius had no direct involvement, Amanda had only helped Nadine lure her to the hotel. But when Jemima called the police, she deliberately left those details out. She wanted all of them arrested and interrogated.
She hated Julius. And he deserved it.
Thump, thump, thump
Footsteps approached. A familiar scent–a subtle, sophisticated woody fragrance–drified in the air.
Jemima lazily lifted her head. The dim light filtering through the leaves cast a delicate contrast of shadows and highlights over his features. His eyes were lowered, making it impossible to read his expression. Shrouded by the darkness, his presence felt even taller, even more imposing. There was an undeniable weight to it–something sharp and suffocating.
“You got your revenge. You should be happy.” His voice was calm. “So why are you sitting here, lost in thought?”
Jemima hesitated. “I’m tired.”
Also, why are you following met

The moment the words left his mouth. Jemima sprang to her feet. “You’re right!” she said briskly. “I’m leaving right now. Goodnight, Mr. Sterling!”
She turned on her heel, taking a few hurried steps in her heels. Then, as if remembering something she glanced back. “And thank you for today!”
Scott was momentarily speechless.
Jemima took a cab back to her new home. She didn’t drive. Instead, she entered through the lobby and took the elevator.
When the doors slid open, she froze. Scott was already inside.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped in and pressed her finger to the biometric lock. She glanced up at him, attempting to make small talk. “You must be tired, Mr. Sterling.”
“Yeah. Came back to get some sleep”
“Same here.”
Scott tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable. “And”
Jemima blinked
Is there supposed to be more to this conversation?
She quickly replayed their exchange in her mind. He said he came back to sleep. She said she did, too
So… what am I supposed to say next?
The dazzling, confident woman who had stolen the show at the banquet now looked completely flustered. Her wide eyes darted around in confusion, making her seem like a clueless liule girl caught off guard by a tough question. There was something about it–something pure, yet irresistibly alluring. Something that could stir a man’s heart, unsettling him in ways he wouldn’t expect
Scott averted his gaze.
Jemima, realizing he had no intention of pushing further, quickly lowered her head as well. The conversation ended just like that, unfinished and hanging in the air.
The elevator doors opened at her floor. She stepped out and turned slightly, glancing at him one last time. “Goodnight, Mr. Sterling. Sleep well.”
Scott gave a quiet hum of acknowledgment. Jemima walked out, listening as the doors slowly slid shut behind her.
