Chapter 36 The Card Game
He didn’t dare to enter, as he couldn’t bring himself to step into a home that no longer housed her.
Finished
He had spent the entire day looking for her, exhausting all possible methods, but it was as if she had vanished into thin air. leaving no trace behind. The fear of losing her was like a vine that gripped his throat, suffocating him.
His eyes, reddened, were gazing up at the moon.
Right then, Jemima was also looking out at the sea.
There was a full moon that night, its light shining like a mirror, so bright it was almost blinding. Gradually, the mirror–like surface shattered into countless cracks, symbolizing their past that could never be pieced back together
Jemima had lost track of how long she had been sitting there.
It wasn’t until Zander’s call came through, instructing her to head to the second level of the ship that she regained her senses.
She then rose to her feet.
The second floor was an entertainment hub, complete with a swimming pool, karaoke lounge, movie room, games room, and even an indoor golf course. It had everything one could possibly want
When one came here, the only purpose was to relax and have fun.
Zander informed her that they were playing hold’em poker in the card room.
Jemima gave a knowing smile. Indeed, bosses are quite fond of this money–burning game.
They found a place to sit, casually grabbing some snacks to munch on.
Roughly an hour had passed when Scott called them in.
Jemima immediately went in with Zander.
The room was filled with the scent of cigars as wealthy individuals gathered around an oval–shaped poker table. Some were basking in the glory of their victories, while others were nursing the bitterness of their losses. The table was piled high with chips, and a seductive dealer was in charge of the cards. Waitstaff continuously delivered red wine, champagne, and cigars. Amidst the chorus of calls to raise or fold, a spectacle of intoxicating opulence was unfolding
Scott didn’t smoke. A glass of champagne was placed by his side, and his demeanor so refreshing that it seemed like he Lelonged to a differen league compared to everyone else.
Judging from his chips, he had won quite a bit.
Sitting beside him, Naomi seemed to be intoxicated. She propped her head up with one hand, appearing groggy.
“Help Ms. Atkins out. She has had too much to drink.”
With a calm tone, Scott issued an order.
Jemima and Zander stepped forward, just as instructed.
“I’m fine.” Naomi brushed their hands away.
The two had made several attempts, but they were all brushed off.
“Ms. Atkins…”
Zander didn’t dare to carelessly touch Naomi’s body. Jemima, being a woman herself, thought it was acceptable. She wrapped her arms around Naomi’s waist, intending to lift her up.
“What are you doing?”
As if she had stumbled upon a trap, Naomi forcefully pushed Jemima away. Thankfully, Zander was behind her to catch her.
Jemina was also somewhat startled and everone present tumed their attention toward them

Chapter 36 The Card Game
Scott wore a somewhat icy expression on his face. He stood up, personally helping Naomi up from her chair before instructing. “Cover for me for one round.”
“Alright.”
Jemima appeared composed, but in reality, she had no idea who he was actually addressing.
It was just that Zander didn’t acknowledged the order, so she did it instead.
Finished
After Scott helped Naomi out of the card room. Zander cast a worried glance at Jemima. Thinking to himself that she had never handled such a situation before, he felt it was better if he took over.
However, before he could speak, Jemima had already taken her seat without hesitation.
She glanced at her hole cards, then shifted her gaze to the community cards.
Assuring a no–loss situation was simple, folding was all that was needed. However, she was representing Scott now. Folding every round would be damaging to his reputation.
But when it came to winning, she was unable to guarantee it.
She quickly formulated a strategy in her mind.
On the surface, she appeared calm and collected, showing no signs of panic. She even gave off the illusion of being an expert.
She went on to play for over half an hour.
At first, she played with extreme caution. She would pass, fold, call, raise if the cards were good, and the chips she added were always within reason. She played a low–key game, but after a while, she began to feel a little restless. She started to bet boldly, and after winning a few rounds, she gradually became overconfident. When she saw the potential for a royal flush, she got so carried away that she even thought about going all in. Zander, terrified, frantically tried to stop her from the back
Good heavens, you’re about to lose. Even if you sold yourself to Mr. Sterling, you wouldn’t be able to pay off the debt! He only asked you to take over for a while, not to lose yourself in the game!
“Ms. Willis, you go check on Mr. Sterling. I’ll handle things here,” Zander said, his smile couldn’t be any more awkward.
“No-”
“You have no choice. Go!”
He firmly cut her off.
Only then did Jemima rise to her feet. Her gaze fell on the cards, and she wore an expression of tremendous regret.
As she stepped out, the roomful of tycoons watched her departing figure with blatant desire. Her face was strikingly beautiful. and her figure was slender yet voluptuous. They hadn’t expected her to be so audacious when it came to playing cards. The mere thought of possibly getting her number and arranging a sensual rendezvous was enough to dispel their bad mood from losing.
She’s just a beautiful secretary. Surely, Scott wouldn’t be so petty as to refuse to share her
Jemima stepped out of the card game room.
The thought of Zander’s words made her want to laugh. Who in their right mind would choose to approach Mr. Sterling while he’s
alone with Mr. Atkinst
