Chapter 55 Start Looking For A Replacement
Scott took the bottle from Zander and leisurely took a few sips before standing up to leave. Throughout it all, he didn’t glance in Jemima’s direction even once.
Zander followed him out without hesitation.
Jemima found her eyes involuntarily trailing after Scott’s tall figure as he walked away, a dozen thoughts racing through her
mind
“Have some soup,” a cold voice interrupted, snapping her out of her daze.
Julius stood beside the bed, holding a white porcelain bowl. His face was unreadable, but his tone was anything but warm.
Jemima blinked, momentarily thrown off. “Just leave it there. I’ll eat later.
“It’ll get cold. Let me feed you, Julius offered.
“I don’t need you to feed me.”
“Oh! Then what you want Scott to do it?”
Jemima stared at him like he had lost his mind. “Sure enough, a guilty man sees guilt everywhere.”
Julius‘ expression softened slightly at her denial. “If you quit your job, I’ll believe there’s nothing between you two.
Jemima exhaled sharply, exasperated. “Then don’t believe me.”
What did it matter to her whether he believed it or not?
Julius face darkened. “So you really plan to work for him? As his secretary?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Jemima, you only took this job to get back at me. To punish me!”
His gaze was intense, as if he had completely seen through her. He was convinced she still loved him, that he still had a place
her heart. Scott was just a tool–a means to vent her anger.
But even if it was just a facade, Scott was a dangerous presence. If she spent too much time around him, she might actually fall for him.
Jemima let out a sharp laugh, unwilling to waste her breath arguing. Instead, she stood up and took the bowl of porridge from his hands. “Thank you for visiting, Mr. Stahl. You can leave now.”
Mr. Stahlt
Julius chuckled, though there was no humor in it. This was the first time she had ever addressed him so formally.
He settled himself onto the chair by her bed. “I’m not going anywhere. We’re still married, and as your husband, it’s my duty to take care of you”
I’m this close to sending a hitman after him.
Since she couldn’t physically throw him out, and definitely couldn’t fight him off, she simply ignored his existence.
She placed the soup on the bedside table but hesitated. Knowing him, he might actually try to force–feed her if she refused to eat Resigned, she picked up the spoon and began eating.
An hour later, Scott returned. Zander and Naomi were with him.
Jemima hadn’t realized Naomi had stayed the night at the hospital, only stepping out to grab breakfast.
Of course, Naomi hadn’t remained out of concern for Jemima. Nor was it guilt. She had simply followed Scott, watching him closely.
“Ms Willis Towe you an anoloury” Naomi said sincerely “Last night. I was mided by Mr Cohen’s words and unfairly blamed

Another person asking for forgiveness
Finished
Jemima felt both amused and exhausted. She knew Naomi’s apology wasn’t really for her–it was for Scott. She wanted to smooth things over with him
Smiling. Jemima replied. “There’s no need to talk about forgiveness. Given what happened last night, it was easy to be misled. If anyone is to blame. it’s Mr. Cohen for his excellent deception–and perhaps you, Ms. Atkins, for being too kind–hearted. None of this was your fault.”
Her response gave Naomi the perfect way out while subtly making her point.
Scott’s lips curled into a barely perceptible smile. She really knows how to handle herself
Julius, however, felt a stab of jealousy. She’d rather comfort a stranger than me.
“Ms. Willis, thank you for your understanding. I truly regret my actions,” Naomi said. She hesitated, then looked at Scott cautiously. “I’ve decided–I’m not fit to stay here any longer.”
Scott ignored her and turned his full attention to Jemima. “You handled things well, but don’t do anything this reckless again. No job is worth risking your life. Focus on recovering–I’ll take care of everything else,” he said gently.
Jemima nodded. “Understood.”
But when their eyes met, she felt uneasy and quickly turned to Zander. “We still have three days left in our schedule. I appreciate your hard work, Mr. Sadinton.”
“Jemima, please don’t say that,” Zander said, his voice filled with guilt. “I shouldn’t have let you go to the factory alone. If something had happened to you…”
“Jemima, please stop talking.” Zander said, his voice filled with guilt. “I shouldn’t have let you go to the factory alone. If something had happened to you…”
Julius shot him a sharp glare, his expression dark with warning. “Jemima? Who gave you the right to call her that?”
Zander instantly shut his mouth. He had no intention of provoking a bloodbath.
“My wife’s injuries are serious, and she needs plenty of rest,” Julius declared. “She won’t be able to continue working as a secretary. I suggest you start looking for a replacement, Mr. Sterling.”
