Jemina was just about to protest when Naomi beat her to it. “Since her husband has already spoken, let’s not push the issue. Scott. Ill go back to the company and take over as your secretary,” she announced.
Jemima was stunned.
Julius had already caused enough trouble, and now Naomi was taking advantage of the situation? Especially after she had just given Naomi an easy way out of last night’s mess, making sure she wouldn’t be humiliated in front of Scott.
Isn’t this a classic case of repaying kindness with betrayal?
Scott’s face remained unreadable. The warmth in his deep, piercing eyes was gone, replaced by something far more complex. He didn’t glance at anyone else–his gaze was locked solely on Jemima. “Do you want to resign?” he asked.
“Of course not!” Jemima replied without hesitation. Even if she weren’t divorcing Julius, he had no right to make decisions for her.
Julius‘ expression darkened.
Naomi shot Jemima a frosty, furious glare.
Scott, however, looked amused. “If you don’t want to, then that settles it.”
Checking his watch, he looked back at her. “The doctor said your leg will take at least a week to heal. You can go back to Yhuwell to recover. Should I arrange a flight for you?”
“There’s no need for you to go out of your way.” Jemima said quickly. “We came here together, so we should leave together.”
Having him make a special trip for her on his private jet just felt inappropriate.
“All right, we’ll go back together,” Scott agreed, his amusement deepening
With that, he told her to rest and then left with Zander.
Naomi had more to say to Jemima, but seeing Scott leave, she hesitated for a few seconds before deciding to chase after him. Before she left, she shot Jemima one last glare.
Jemima was speechless.
She finally understood–Naomi saw every woman around Scott as a potential threat.
“You were shamelessly flirting with him right in front of me! Do you think I’m invisible or something?” A furious voice erupted from the side.
Jemima blinked, momentarily taken aback. Turning, she saw Julius seething with anger. She had almost forgotten that he was still here. “Mr. Stahl, could you lower your voice? This is a hospital,” she said, exasperated.
“Don’t call
Mr. Stall!”
“Mr. Stahl, please leave. Get out of my sight,” she said with a forced smile before lying down and pulling the covers over her
head.
Julius was so furious it hurt. But no matter how much she tried to push him away, he refused to leave. Sitting silently by the bed, he watched her, his heart twisting with pain.
Jemima ended up staying in the hospital for three days. And for three days, Julius stayed by her side, unwavering. No matter how she tried to chase him away, no matter how completely she ignored him, he remained stubbornly put
His phone rang constantly. He answered a few calls but ignored most of them, rejecting them outright. He was clearly agitated.
Jemima could guess why. Had the Goodwin family managed to get Nadine out? It wasn’t impossible. After all, Julius had been released so quickly, not just because the Stabl family had a strong legal team, but also because the Goodwin family’s lawyers
were no pushovers.

That afternoon, taking advantage of a moment alone, Jemima locked the bathroom door and called Amelia.
“Mia, where are you? Has Julius come looking for you? I was in Solvenzia. He found me”
-Solvenzia? Weren’t you in lapluycia?”

“It’s a long story,” Jemima replied. She didn’t mention her current role as Scott’s secretary or the fact that she was injured. “By the way, what’s going on with Nadine?”
At the mention of the name, Amelia slammed her fist on the table. “The Goodwin family submitted proof that Nadine has a mental illness. She got bailed out yesterday afternoon. And today, their lawyer came to negotiate a settlement. I sent him packing. Who needs their dirty money? We will never compromise-
“I agree to a settlement.”
“What?” Amelia thought she must have misheard. “What did you say? A settlement?”
“Julius is putting on an act–playing the devoted husband, acting like he can’t live without me. I can’t seem to shake him. And even if I used the evidence I have against him, there’s no guarantee he’d back down. I don’t have full confidence that I’d win in court, either. So… I need some help right now.”
Amelia immediately caught her meaning. And in her head, she was completely stunned.
She’s planning to use Nadine to deal with Julius? That’s insane!
“Are you sure about this?”
Jemima’s voice was calm. “Mia, with the Goodwin family’s influence, it’s only a matter of time before Nadine gets completely cleared. Now that they’re offering a resolution, we should take advantage of it.”
