Chapter 57 A Shocking Twist

“Also, could you pass a message to Nadine for me? Tell her that Julius is trying to rekindle our old flame and is absolutely refusing to divorce me. Given how obsessively attached she is to him, she’ll lose her mind when she hears this. The Goodwin family spoils Nadine to an irrational degree–if she goes off the rails, they’ll definitely pressure Julius into marrying her. At that point, even if he doesn’t want to leave me, he won’t have a choice.”
For a moment, Amelia was speechless.
Honestly… you all are absolutely insane.
Before hanging up, she couldn’t help but ask, “But what if Julius really regrets everything? What if he actually loves you? Doesn’t that make you hesitate, even a little?”
Jemima chuckled. “If he truly regrets it, then this is just retribution for his betrayal. Whether he suffers or regrets it, that’s on
him.”
It was seven in the evening when Scott and Zander arrived.
Julius wasn’t there–he had received an urgent phone call that forced him to leave in a hurry. His face had been etched with worry as he rushed out.
Looks like Mia’s message did its job…
Jemima savored the unfolding chaos, enjoying a rare moment of peace. She was just wondering if the factory situation had. been resolved when the two men walked in…
Scott looked a little worn out. It made sense–his schedule had already been packed, and now, with the factory crisis, he had to travel back and forth constantly. It would’ve been strange if he wasn’t exhausted.
“Ms. Willis, we’re heading back to Yhuwell tomorrow,” Zander informed her.
Seeing the relaxed, almost cheerful expression on Zander’s face, Jemima knew the factory issues had been handled.
She had actually wanted to ask about it the afternoon before last, but seeing how serious Scott had looked at the time, she had decided against it. Clearly, they had run into complications.
Now, finally, she had the chance to ask. “Did Camron finally confess?”
Zander’s eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but laugh. “How’d you know?”
Zander’s eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but laugh. “How’d you know
“Just a guess.“Jemima shrugged. “That night, we found out where Camron had kept me during interrogation. I also gave you the recordings from the factory, which exposed those two ghost workers who were collecting salaries without actually working. Daryl even admitted to being in the room where I was held captive. Logically speaking, the evidence was overwhelming, and the case should have been wrapped up in a matter of hours.”
She continued to reason, “But I knew it wouldn’t be that simple, because Daryl was acting strange. If they were just regular accomplices, there’s no reason one would keep protecting the other. When Camron confessed, Daryl should’ve panicked, realizing the game was up. But he wasn’t scared at all. So why was he so sure that Camron wouldn’t betray him? There had to be a prior agreement between them–one of them would take the fall to protect the other.”
“Even worse, this was all planned before I even went to the factory. When I disappeared, you came looking. Once Camron was caught, he willingly took the blame, making sure no one would suspect Daryl, the real mastermind. Naturally, Mr. Sterling wouldn’t have the time or energy to keep digging deeper, Jemima concluded.
The conversation had been going smoothly until her last sentence made Scott frown. “Ms. Willis, don’t diminish your own inportance. If you were to disappear, I’d be in a constant state of distress.”
Jemima froze.
For a moment, she wasn’t sure what to make of his words. He was clearly expressing his concern, yet somehow, it felt more like… he would always miss her.
Her face heated up, turning several shades redder.
“Pin, well… Thanks for your concern, Mr. Sterlingt.”
Chapter 57 A Shocking Twist
“I’ve always cared about my employees, Scott said evenly, his expression unreadable.
Zander blinked. You care about all your employees? Really?

The atmosphere instantly grew thick with awkwardness. In the end, it was Zander who broke the silence, chuckling as he steered the conversation back to the factory.
“Ms. Willis, you’ve got a sharp mind,” he said. “You were about eighty percent right. Impressive, really impressive.”
Jemima raised an eyebrow. “What was the missing twenty percent?”
Zander leaned forward slightly. “You remember those two ghost workers? Turns out they really were ghosts. They’re already dead–Camron killed them.”“
“They’re dead?” Jemima was caught completely off guard.
She had considered the possibility that the two might’ve been relatives or friends of Camron, but she had never imagined they’d actually be his victims.
Zander nodded. “Crazy, right? None of us expected this to turn into a homicide case.”
Jemima’s mind raced. “I get it now. That’s the leverage Daryl had. No wonder he was so sure Camron wouldn’t rat him out-
Camron was already willing to take the fall for him.”
After all, embezzlement and kidnapping were bad, but murder was on a whole other level.
“Exactly.” Zander confirmed. “Those two were factory workers, part of the first batch we hired. They were a married couple. but less than two weeks after moving here, Camron killed them in the middle of the night. He claimed it was an accident- just a verbal argument that got out of hand.”
