Chapter 75 Julius Is Heartbroken
If she still loved me… how could she say such things with a smile

Leaning against the wall with one hand, Julius felt an unbearable ache deep in his chest, so intense that he could barely stay upright.
It turned out, the cruelest punishment wasn’t her wanting to leave him. It wasn’t even the divorce. It was the realization that she had erased him from her heart.
He thought back to the woman who once looked at him as if he were her whole world. The woman who loved him so much, she was willing to elope, sign away her rights in a prenuptial agreement, and endure the cold rejection of his family–all for him. She had been content just being by his side, cherishing every fleeting moment they shared.
But that woman was gone.
Back in the dining room, Hayden’s patience snapped. He slammed his hand on the table. “Jemima, one can’t be this greedy. Ten percent of the shares? Do you really think you’re worth that much?”
Jemima didn’t flinch. She didn’t even look offended. “It seems you don’t agree.”
With a small sigh, she added, “In that case, you’d best convince your son to finalize the divorce with a greedy woman like me. Consider it a favor–I’ve just saved you three hundred and fifty million. Haven’t you always wanted a daughter–in–law who’s a perfect match for your family? Well, here’s your chance. If he tires of Nadine, you can find him another. I’m sure he’d enjoy the novelty.”
“Jemima!” Julius strode in from outside.
His menacing demeanor sent the two bodyguards into high alert–they immediately stepped forward, positioning themselves protectively in front of Jemima.
But she remained utterly composed. With a gentle smile, she raised a hand, signaling them to stand down. “It’s fine,” she reassured them.
The bodyguards exchanged wary glances before stepping back, though not too far. They were hired by Jemima, and their sole duty was her safety.
“You’re late,” Jemima said, meeting Julius‘ blazing gaze with a radiant smile. “I’ve already finished discussing things with your father.
Julius’s jaw tightened as he bit out, “This is between you and me. Talking to anyone else changes nothing. Divorce? You wish! Either you find the guys to kill me or end your own life. Otherwise, don’t even think about it.”
Jemirna fell silent. So, he’s switched tactics again. When playing dirty, deceiving, and begging for mercy all failed, he’s resorted to
intimidation?
She pressed her lips together, recognizing that provoking a man this reckless was a dangerous game.
Arguing with him? A waste of breath. Reasoning with him? Even more pointless.
After a brief pause, she spoke, her voice steady. “You kept refusing the divorce. That I was the one you loved. But at the airport, you walked away–with her, leaving me behind. Can you really stand here and say you haven’t been with Nadine these past few days?”
“Julius stiffened. His mouth opened slightly, but no words came out.
Because she was right. He had left with Nadine. And in the days that followed, she kept threatening to end her life. He had no choice but to stay with her.”
“Let’s divorce. There’s no point in dragging this marriage on any longer.” Jemima said.
Julius‘ eyes turned to ice, his lips curling into a scornful smirk. A low, mocking chuckle escaped his throat. “You’re in such a rush to regain your single status… Let me guess, can’t wait to become Scott’s woman, is that it?”
Hayden’s brows furrowed in surprise

Who? Scott!
His mind flicked back to the charity dinner, to the video he’d seen–Jemima standing beside a tall man, one whose presence. and demeanor rivaled even that of his own son. Isaiah Sterling’s eldest son.
So that’s why she’s so determined to leave Julius. She’s aiming to ride on the Sterling family’s coattails.
“Jemima, just because the Stahl family accepted you, do you really think you can get into the Sterling family too? You’re delusional!” Hayden bellowed.
Jemima stood there, watching the father and son with an unreadable expression.
She drew in a slow, steady breath, willing herself to stay calm. “My relationship with Scott is purely platonic. If you’re going to throw baseless accusations around, be careful–the Sterling family might not take too kindly to your slander.”
Julius questioned, “Then why the hell was he at your place in the middle of the night?”
So him being at my place automatically means we’re involved? Do you have proof? No? I do! There’s a security camera at my front door. He dropped me off and left within a minute. Tell me, Julius–what could possibly happen in sixty seconds!”
Her voice rang with righteous indignation as she cut off any room for argument. “Not only can I prove my innocence, but I can also expose your affair with Nadine Goodwin. I have a recording. Your lover called me from your phone while you were in bed together, taunting me. Shall I play it for everyone to hear?”
As she spoke, she lowered her phone, scrolling through her phone.
Julius‘ expression shifted in an instant. Panic flared in his eyes as he lunged forward, yanking the phone from her grasp. “That was all an act! She staged the whole thing–it wasn’t real!”
Jemima arched a brow, crossing her arms. “Oh? So you’re telling me you willingly handed her your phone so she could fake moaning in bed? And what–she found some other man to mimic your heavy breathing? Do you really think I’d believe such an insult to my intelligence? Do you think your father would believe it? Or how about a judge when we take this to court?”
The mention of a public courtroom–of evidence, witnesses, and a scandal laid bare for all to see–almost gave Hayden a stroke. If Jemima went through with this, it wouldn’t just be Julius who suffered. It would drag the entire Stahl and Goodwin Tamilies through the mud.
He yelled, “Divorce her! Tomorrow, you’re going to settle the divorce papers with her!”
He had gravely underestimated Jemima.
