I leaned in to look.
It was an ultrasound scan showing a two–month pregnancy, where the volume of the fetus could be seen.
Oh, I remembered now. Three years ago, I had planned to come back to get the report deliberately, using the opportunity to tell Gabriel about the pregnancy.

I had even specially placed that pregnancy check report on the living room table.
But that pregnancy report had disappeared in the end.
So it had been hidden under the table.
Gabriel took out the surveillance video from the cellar again, scrutinizing every detail of those three years I was imprisoned and tortured.
In the first year of my confinement in the cellar.
I stood under the gallows and gave birth to a baby boy, but as soon as the child was born, Rose kicked it and it went silent.
My mind exploded with realization.
I finally remembered those lost memories. It was Rose, Rose was a dwarf with abnormal strength.
My heart began to ache dully.
But Gabriel went mad. He carefully folded the pregnancy report and put it in his chest.
As if treating some precious treasure.
Gabriel personally drove to bring back my body.
After the autopsy, my body had become even more broken. When the corpse came into view, his whole body stiffened and trembled.
Gabriel touched my patched–up body.
His gaze slowly moved up, finally stopping on my face. His eyes reddened to the extreme, and he murmured: “My little Mia, my little Mia…”
I had been an orphan since childhood, and grew up to become a doctor.
Because I didn’t want to see kind people like the orphanage director pass away due to illness.
But then I met Gabriel. He was the CEO of a public company, handsome and wealthy. He pursued me with grand gestures.
I had never been in love before, and this sweetness made me fall deeply.
I gave up my career for him, becoming his wife and subordinate.
I rarely got angry, always gentle, but Gabriel said I looked better with a bit of anger on my face.
I tried hard to change, just to cater to him, to make him like me more.
I cherished this family of mine. The warmth of home made it impossible for me to let go, so I sank deeper and deeper.
But I never imagined that a rich heir like Gabriel would treat cheating as a game, nor did I expect that the adopted daughter he took in was actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
He held my remains woodenly, as if he couldn’t smell the stench of death.
“Mia, don’t worry. I will definitely avenge you, but now I need to give you a proper burial. My little Mia, we had such a grand wedding, so the funeral must be equally grand.”
