“You have no idea who Kyle really is?! Kyle is
a top–tier hacker who I asked nicely to come
work for us because of our friendship.”
The old man explained, and Veronica looked.

The old man continued, “Yeah, that’s him. I
got him to marry you to give you a good
future.”
Veronica was stunned.
Her grandfather spoke again.
“You really thought I hired him to protect your
company?!”
“Wasn’t that the plan?”
Veronica was speechless.
“That was part of it, but mostly, I wanted him
to protect the company’s project with the

government. If that got leaked, it would be a
catastrophe!”
I nodded.
“The hackers who attacked Cody’s firewall
were targeting the project’s core files.
Hacking your company was just a side
effect.”
Veronica couldn’t believe it.
“But how could you put such important
files…”
Cody spoke up, but the old man silenced him.
“Shut up! I’ll deal with you and Veronica
later!”
The project was safe, so the old man relaxed
and grabbed my hand.
“Thank you, I appreciate your help.”
I nodded, and the old man turned to leave.
Veronica rushed forward.
“Grandpa! What about my company?!”
The old man looked back.
“You made this mess, now you fix it! Weren’t
you saying that you didn’t want to be told
what to do? You have a child, how can you
even ask me this, now run your company.”
The door slammed shut.
Veronica was lost, and Cody’s computer was
dead.
I turned to leave, and Veronica grabbed me.
She was desperate and begged.
“Kyle! I was wrong! I should have treated you
better! Please, save the company!”
I pulled away and sneered.
“Why should I help you? Didn’t you hear what
your grandfather said? The starting price is
six figures, and you can’t afford me! I’m not
working for that salary anymore!”
Veronica was speechless, and after a long
pause, she said,
“…I’ll take you back. Please, give me another
chance.”
Cody panicked.
“Veronica, you can’t do this!”

Veronica slapped Cody, yelling,
“Get out of here! You’re a liar! Get out!”
Cody held his face in disbelief, and Veronica
looked at me.
“Kyle! Come back. No one will give you a
hard time again!”
I laughed.
She only said that now?
“No, thanks. I hope you and Cody have a
happy family!”
