“Emily is my wife now, and a decent ex
should be like they’re dead.”
David’s composure made the two brothers
look even more pathetic.
Alex dug his fingernails into his palms.
“We’ve been childhood sweethearts since we
were kids. Remember that time in high school
when it suddenly rained, and you ran over
with an umbrella…”
Seeing me lost in thought, his eyes lit up.
“We always gave you your favorite props for
your birthday. Remember we talked about

I snapped back to reality and smiled, looking
behind him.
He instinctively turned his head.
He saw countless cherished design props
displayed meticulously.
“You stopped giving me gifts years ago,
those tools are outdated.”
Even those memories, they had discarded
them with their own hands.
His hands dropped, trembling.
The old, rain–soaked props had long been
replaced with new ones.

“Aren’t you leaving yet? Your little girlfriend is
looking for you.”
David smirked, and the two brothers looked
up uncertainly.
A figure rushed in from outside, throwing her
arms around their necks.
“Jason, Alex, you promised you’d be good to
me, why did you suddenly leave me alone?!”
Even coming to apologize to me, they had to
bring her along. Truly devoted.
“Get lost! If it weren’t for that client
specifically requesting you, we wouldn’t have
brought you!”

They pushed her away forcefully, looking at
me anxiously.
“Emily, we just wanted to teach you a lesson,
we’ve always loved you!”
Sarah stumbled, pulled out a knife in fury, and
lunged towards me.
“It’s all your fault, you homewrecker! Social
climbing and ruining the Jason family’s
reputation!”
Before David could react, the two brothers
kicked her away.
Sarah collapsed on the ground, unable to get
up, but they just looked at me hopefully.
“Emily, see, we really don’t like her anymore! I

“Emily, see, we really don’t like her anymore! I
know she used to target you, trust us, we
won’t let her get away with it, just look at
us…”
It wasn’t that they didn’t know, but they
always saw what they wanted to see.
As the bodyguards dragged Sarah out, they
were still yelling.
Just like the day they dragged me out of the
cemetery.
David had them charged with trespassing and
sent back to jail.
But there were still some negative comments
online.

The articles twisted the day David and I got our marriage license into me playing Jason and getting married as a joke.
It was obviously Sarah’s doing.
I frowned, worried it would affect my standing with the competition organizers. David just
came over with a stack of documents and
said,
“Don’t worry, it’ll be taken care of.”
While out buying supplies, I heard about
Jason and Alex’s current situation.
Г
Their grandfather had forbidden them from
leaving the country, forcing them to
compensate for the losses they caused the
Jason family.
I breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to
compete without distractions.
The competition organizers came to interview me about my landscape design, and I
nervously listened to their continuous praise.
David said I would definitely be in the top
three globally.
But a week before the results were
announced, my previous work appeared in a
plagiarism notice.

I looked closely, the name listed was Sarah.
I opened the message window where the brothers had been constantly messaging me.
After being kicked out of my house, they tied Sarah up and tortured her, even taking away
all her stomach medicine.
After returning home, they forced her to work
non–stop, running her ragged.
Her delicate beauty faded, replaced by
exhaustion and age.
They sent me pictures of Sarah’s miserable
state, and I frowned.
“Emily, we know you hate her, we avenged
you.”
Their messages were full of pleading.
“I don’t hate her anymore. You hurt me more
than she ever did.”
I typed indifferently.
The other side typed and retyped, then fell
silent.
