I woke up in the hospital.
The paramedics found me.
The doctors said I was exhausted.
I paid and left.
Then someone yelled.
It was one of Haley’s friends.
She walked up.
“You hurt Haley! She’s the richest girl in
town! You’re going to regret this!”
“She can end you.”
I took a step back.
“I didn’t hurt Haley. She was hurting me.”
“She was adopted, and I’m their daughter.”
“Leave me alone.”
Haley’s friend laughed.
“Stop lying! You’re not rich!”
Everyone started pointing and laughing.

They started yelling.
I pulled out my birth certificate.
“Here! Look!”
They pushed my hand away.
“It’s fake.”
“She’s a liar! Beat her up.”
