EPISODE 5%
My lifeless eyes stared up at the sky, my blood–matted hair fanned out around my pale face. My lips were parted, frozen In a silent scream. The jagged tear at my neck left no doubt about what had happened.
Wild wolves had feasted on me.”
I had been eaten alive.!!
Even in death, I could feel the weight of it, like an unseen force lingering around my remains. Seram stood there, his dark eyes narrowed at the mess of blood and torn flesh that had once been me.
“This is a joke,” he muttered under his breath, fists clenched tightly at his sides. “It has to be.“%
But it wasn’t. No matter how much he tried to deny it, no matter how much his mind tried to convince him otherwise, I was already gone. Lifeless. Killed while still alive. The shock of my brutal end hung heavy in the air, and yet, denial was strong in him.
The warriors at his back remained silent, their expressions unreadable, though their eyes betrayed a mix of horror and grief. They had known me, even though they were not close to me. After all, they were Seram’s subordinates, and I had to interact with them more than anyone expected. Like Seram, they hadn’t had a good impression of me.”
Weak and naïve, those were the words they often used to describe me.”
Still, they knew I wasn’t a bad person, I might not have been the perfect Luna in the pack, but I wasn’t bad either. The only thing that placed me on such low ground was my failure to conceive early in our marriage. And when I finally did, I was to give birth to a baby girl. They had always preferred male firstborns. They had expected that I would provide one, so when they learned it was a girl, they were disappointed.X
But that didn’t mean they were heartless enough to let such an innocent child be eaten by wild wolves.
“Scout the area,” Seram finally ordered, his voice rough but steady. “Find out how these wild wolves managed to get into our land without anyone noticing. Search every comer.“%
The warriors hesitated, then nodded, breaking apart into teams to spread through the territory. They carried their weapons, their senses sharp, but even the most seasoned among them looked uneasy. They were strong warriors, but most of their family members were not.
My death could mean that safety within the pack had been compromised. That’s why they were more eager on their patrol, watching for traces that could have been left unnoticed.
Seram stayed in place, not even looking at them as he gave his orders. He simply stared at the ground, his brows furrowed, his lips drawn into a hard line. He scanned the area, looking for something to prove that I wasn’t the person lying dead there when he noticed something.
Something had caught his attention. Slowly, he crouched down, fingers hovering just above the blood–soaked dirt. His nostrils flared slightly as he inhaled, and he thought the scent was familiar. But it also smelled strange. Aside from my familiar scent lingering around, there was an additional scent that belonged to him on the ground.
And he knew it wasn’t from him. The scent was only similar, and no two people shared the exact same scent, which meant it had to have come from his kin.
He turned his head and found the beta warrior who had reported the attack searching for clues. He called him, his voice quieter now, but no less commanding.!
“There’s a different scent here, Seram said, trying to find his words. “It’s… young.”
The beta warrior stiffened. “Alpha-
“Why do I smell an infant?” Seram’s gaze flicked up sharply, pinning the beta warrior with an intensity that made the man shift uncomfortably.
A pause. Then, the beta warrior exhaled, his expression grim. “Marian gave birth…”
Seram stilled. For a moment, the weight of those words seemed to hang between them, unspoken yet thunderous.
He swallowed, glancing away as if to shield himself from Seram’s growing rage. They had tied me up above the ground for the punishment, and Seram understood very well what the beta warrior meant when he said that the baby had fallen to the ground while I’m up there..
“It wasn’t harmed by the fall, as if by some miracle. That baby boy was even crying, and when I picked him up, he was quite healthy. I didn’t dare release them without your orders, so I hurried to ask you the previous night. But…”
But it hadn’t happened because Seram had told him to ignore me, believing the pack was safe.
Silence X
Then, Seram’s voice came, low and sharp. “Repeat that.”
“What?” The beta warrior was horrified. He hadn’t wanted to start telling the story at all, as it was gruesome. The Beta hesitated, but before he could speak, Seram lifted a hand to stop him.
“Did you say it was a boy?“.
“Did you say it was a boy?”
The Beta nodded slowly. Seram frowned deeper.
“But when the healer checked on her, they said it would be a girl.“%
“There was no mistake in the original assessment. We were all certain she carried a girl. There should have possibility of error” Seram said.
“No, Alpha. I am telling the truth. It was indeed a boy,” the beta warrior insisted. “Maybe they made a mistake and assumed it was a girl.“%

A mistake like that… was unheard of. In this age, with the knowledge they had, gender was never miscalculated. It wasn’t just unlikely.
It was impossible.
Unless someone had purposely made the blunder to make him believe I was carrying a girl.
Seram rose to his feet, his eyes burning with something dark, something dangerous. His mind was racing, thoughts. colliding like a storm. And then-
“Alpha One of the scouts called out, his voice tight with urgency.
Seram turned his head sharply. The warriors who had gone to search the land were returning, but there was something in their expressions, something hesitant, that put him instantly on edge.
He straightened. “What did you find?”
The men exchanged uneasy glances. The one who had spoken hesitated before answering. “We have a lead,” he admitted. “But… it’s not what we expected.”
Seram’s frown deepened. “Explain.”
“The trail we followed, it’s too conspicuous,” the warrior said. “It was almost like it was meant to be found. As if someone left it for us to discover
Seram stiffened. “Where does it lead?”
The warriors looked at each other before one of them finally answered.
It came from inside our main camp.
The air grew still, tension thickening like an unseen fog. Seram’s expression darkened, his jaw tightening as a single, chilling realization settled over him.
“Where in the camp?” he asked, though he already feared the answer.
The warrior swallowed, his voice barely above a whisper. “It leads to your house, Alpha.
