Chapter 22%
I washed my hands carefully, flicking off the water droplets, pretending I didn’t see him as I walked past.!!
“Yvonne.” He grabbed my wrist. “Can’t you just give me a chance? I was wrong, I really know that now. Come back, okay? Come back to me.”
“What about Wendolene?”
Last time, he said he kicked her out, but in reality, she was still around. Men’s words really can’t be trusted.
“She’s gone. I lost our villa, too. I’m staying at my parents‘ place now. Yvonne, I swear, I can still turn things around.“”
He kept going on and on, his grip on my wrist tightening. It hurt, and my face twisted in pain.
“Let go of me.”
His expression was manic, and I started struggling, a little scared.
“No, Yvonne, I won’t let go this time! You’re mine! You can only be mine!“!!
Ignoring my struggle, Heston clamped a hand over my mouth, his other arm locking around my body as he dragged me toward the comer of the restroom.
“Mmmph–No! Let me go!”
I thrashed wildly, but he was too strong. He forced me into a tiny maintenance room inside the men’s restroom.
It smelled like chemicals, and there were cleaning supplies stacked against the wall. He grabbed a rag reeking of something harsh and pressed it against my nose and mouth.
My breathing turned shallow… My vision blurred… Then–darkness.
When I came to, I was lying in the backseat of a moving car. My wrists and ankles were bound
Heston sat in the driver’s seat, his mask completely off now–his face was twisted and dark like some demon from the depths of hell!!
Black duct tape sealed my lips. I couldn’t make a sound!
But then, I caught sight of the little angel–wing keychain swaying from my belt. Only then did my heart steady.
‘Hank will realize I’m missing. He’ll track my location.
I just have to stay safe until then…
“Yvonne! You’re awake.”
Heston’s voice was soft, but there was something chilling underneath.
“I knew it! I knew you wanted to be with me!”
I glared at him, fury burning in my eyes. This is kidnapping!
“Don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you. I just want to be with you quietly. You’re always so impatient with me… I just want to tell you how much I love you!”
My whole body trembled, a deep fear curling in my stomach.
Heston was mentally unstable. I had no idea what he’d do to me.
The unknown–that’s terrifying.E
Outside the window, the night stretched endlessly and the scenery flashing past. I recognized where we were–his old home.I
But no one had lived there for years. The whole town had fallen into ruin.
The car rattled down a narrow, overgrown road before stopping in front of a decaying courtyard.
He pulled me out of the car, and the air was thick with the scent of rotting wood.
The wind rustled through the overgrown weeds, tall enough to swallow a person whole. The sound actually sent chills down my spine.
He quickly shoved me inside the abandoned place.
Id been here before, back when we were dating. He once told me this was his heritage home.”
No one lived here. No one lived anywhere nearby.
“If he wants to kill me and hide my body… this place is perfect.
