Chapter 3
The notebook that carried my joys and sorrows for eight years, is now being destroyed by my own
hands.
Ryder was taken aback, his face filled with disbelief. He furrowed his brow and tightly grabbed my
arm.
“What do you mean?”
Ivy looked at me with envy in her eyes, and she let out a painful cry.
“Ryder, my hand hurts so much. Will I be able to hold a paintbrush in the future?”
On Ivy’s finger, there was a faint red mark.
Ryder, as if facing a formidable enemy, put her fingers in her mouth and sucked on them. Then, with a gloomy face, she angrily scolded me.
“Luna, you were indeed a malicious woman. Ivy was the chief designer. If you ruined her hand, can you afford to compensate? Today, you must apologize to Ivy!”
The anger and grievances from two lifetimes surged up, making me lose my sanity.
I picked up the fruit knife on the table and fiercely slashed it towards my wrist, and fresh blood immediately splattered out.
“Did I sacrifice my life enough? Is it sufficient?”
“What were you doing?”
Ryder frantically grabbed my wrist and removed the gauze from his own hand to stop my bleeding.
And his hand, which was missing a chunk of flesh and exposed white bones, began to bleed.
This was his proof of love for Ivy.
He once also saved me by almost draining half of his body’s blood.
Now the blood I shed, even if it was returned to him.
Ryder wanted to take me to the hospital, but Ivy tightly held my hand and said, “Ryder, it seems like I twisted my foot…”
A struggle flickered across Ryder’s face, but in the end, he still picked up Ivy horizontally and left without hesitation.

I self–mockingly looked at the bandage on my wrist, tore it off and threw it into the trash can.
I took a taxi to the hospital alone and got scolded by the doctor.
“If you had applied more force and ruptured the major artery, by the time you reached the hospital, the person would have already died!”
I pursed my lips and dared not speak.
I admit that I was indeed a bit stubborn just now, but fortunately, I have now paid back everything I
owed him.
After the bleeding was stopped and the wound was bandaged, I went to the company and handed in the prepared resignation letter to the HR department.
When I returned to my desk to tidy up, I heard my colleagues complaining.
“Luna, you haven’t been here for the past two days, so you don’t know. We have a new person in our
company,
and she became the executive assistant as soon as she arrived. She’s so arrogant, she even made me buy her coffee!”
“What’s the big deal? This morning, people were all carried into the company by Mr. Black. We can’t afford to mess with the future boss lady.”
“Stupid, can’t even use a printer, yet has the audacity to boast about being a high–achieving student who returned from studying abroad…
The voices of the discussion grew quieter and quieter.
Following their gaze, I saw Ryder standing at the door.
He was leading Ivy, who had a face full of grievances and was crying with tears streaming down her face. She looked at me with a gloomy gaze.
“Luna, was it fun to bully Ivy?”
Before I could react, a cup of scalding hot coffee was poured towards me, even though I dodged in time, it still burned me and made me gasp for breath.
Ryder tenderly kissed the tears at the corner of Ivy’s eyes and then pointed at me, warning everyone in the office.
“This is just a reminder for all of you, Ivy was my woman. Whoever dares to bully her in the future, they will pack up and get out!”
He took me to kill a chicken to warn the monkeys, and then he left with Ivy.

I remember when I first joined the company, I also experienced exclusion and suppression. I often felt so upset that I couldn’t sleep, but Ryder never stood up for me.
I used to think that he wanted to test me, but now I realize that it was just that I wasn’t worthy.
I suppressed the grievance in my heart, took a deep breath, and bid farewell to my colleagues.
When I entered with a smile back then, I wouldn’t leave in tears.
Back at the villa, I started packing my luggage.
I burned everything that Ryder and I had together in the past.
As I watched the dancing flames in the brazier, a sense of satisfaction welled up in my heart.
Suddenly, a pair of hands reached straight into the brazier and took out the half–burned photo
album.
“What were you burning these for? Are you crazy?”
He looked at the album with some heartache, held it in his arms, and patted off the dust.
I looked at him and didn’t say anything.
“What, just because I spilled a cup of coffee on you today, you got so angry that you burned the photo album? When did you become so dramatic?”
“Stop being unreasonable, I don’t have time to accompany you for a reshoot!”
I didn’t understand him. He clearly wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible, but now, who is he putting on a show for?
“You had a girlfriend now, and I was also about to move out, so it’s not appropriate to keep these things.”
Ryder’s face looked a bit unnatural, and his gaze towards me was unusually gentle.
“As long as you didn’t misbehave, Uncle will take care of you for a lifetime.”
I felt a bit sour and swollen in my heart. To spend a lifetime like this? And then treat me like a hidden underground lover?
I was about to speak when the phone in my bag rang.
It was my dad who called.
“Luna, when did you come back?”

“It was fast.”
“Where were you going?”
Ryder furrowed his brow, attempting to snatch my phone, but I managed to evade him.
I explained vaguely.
“My dad asked me when I would go back to accompany them.”
Ryder sighed in relief and ruffled my hair.
“After I got married to Ivy, we went back together, and I hadn’t seen my elder brother for a long
time.”
I remained silent, and he continued on his own.
“Tonight, the company held a welcome party for Ivy, and you and I went together.”
My colleague and I had a good relationship, so I didn’t refuse when I thought about how difficult it would be to see each other again in the future.
I nodded and agreed.
Ryder took my hand, his concerned gaze falling on my wrist, “Are you okay?”
I withdrew my hand without saying a word.
He took out a diamond bracelet from his bag and put it on me.
“Don’t be so impulsive anymore, what will you do without me in the future?”
I couldn’t help but smile bitterly. Yes, I had been by Ryder’s side for ten years, loved him for eight years. My whole world revolved around him. Without him, what should I do?
But this time, I didn’t want him anymore, and I didn’t want this love that had no consistency and couldn’t withstand the light.
His gaze fell on the bracelet.
If I remember correctly, this is the one Ivy wore out. Sure enough, a few of the diamonds on it have
fallen off.
After Ryder left, I almost immediately threw the remaining half of the photo album and the bracelet into the fire pit.
