Chapter 8
The Ryder in front of me seemed unfamiliar.
In the past, every time I saw him, he was always meticulously groomed, wearing gold–rimmed
half–frame glasses, and exuding an air of elegance and restraint.
He now has messy hair and a black eye.
My body felt a bit stiff, and I instinctively glanced at Dylan.
Dylan shielded me, preventing Ryder from getting close to me.
I sighed, guessing that he had already approached my dad and then got beaten up and thrown out by
him.
Ryder’s gaze fell on the hands of Dylan and me, intertwined.
The brightness in his eyes dimmed inch by inch, replaced by a strong sense of sadness. As he spoke, his voice was hoarse, as if crying blood.
“Luna, after you left, I saw Ivy with that man, I saw them meeting, and it was only after Ivy gave him money that I found out they were siblings…”
He didn’t say his name, but I knew who it was.
The man kidnapped me and Ivy in a past life.
I told Ryder at that time that this person was probably brought by Ivy to force him, but he didn’t believe it. He insisted that it was me who orchestrated the kidnapping and even wanted to send me to accompany the funeral.
Ryder covered his face with both hands, allowing tears to flow through his fingers, and chuckled self–deprecatingly.
I found out through investigation that Ivy’s trip abroad was not for the purpose of studying, but rather because she had attached herself to a wealthy foreigner who could help her financi However, she was later deported back to her home country when the foreigner’s wife discovered their affair.
“She had been deceiving and using me all along, and I also found out that it was her who had been slandering you before. I, I’m sorry, I know I was wrong.”
As soon as the words fell, he suddenly raised his head, took a few steps towards me on his knees, wanting to grab my hand, but was kicked away by Dylan.

Dylan raised an eyebrow and stepped on Ryder’s hand, rolling it under his foot.
“Uncle, you crossed the line.”
Ryder let out a painful cry and looked at me, his eyes filled with determination.
“Luna, the person I liked has always been you! Separate from him and be with me, I don’t mind the things between you and him, we can start over!”
I glanced at him with disdain.
What does it mean that he didn’t mind about me and Dylan?
“Do you mind? I used to care about the hurt you caused me, but I didn’t hold it against you because of the years of care you provided. Don’t be ungrateful.”
“It was my mistake to misunderstand you before, and I have already punished myself. I also confiscated all of Ivy’s belongings and sent her back to the countryside to get married. Take a look.”
He raised his hand as he spoke, and it was only then that I noticed he had lost a finger.
“Before, I slapped you with this hand, so I broke one of my fingers, is that enough?”
Ryder was really crazy! He was truly insane!
I retreated with some fear and nestled into Dylan’s arms.
A chill ran through Dylan’s body, and he furrowed his brows as he coldly questioned:
“Did you dare to hit her?”
“I couldn’t bear to even touch a single strand of her hair, why did you have the right to hit her?”
“How can one finger be enough when the light goes out?”
He turned around and looked at the bodyguard behind him.
“His arm was broken.”
The bone snapped and Ryder’s screams of agony filled the air, his body drenched in sweat as he clutched his arm and writhed on the ground.
Dylan raised an eyebrow and said, “I’m sorry, Uncle, when you make a mistake, you have to admit
it.”
He put his arm around my shoulder and led me away without any hesitation.

According to him, Ryder had already been sent back to his country by him, and he wouldn’t cause any more trouble.
I breathed a sigh of relief and started to calmly prepare for the wedding
But I underestimated Ryder, this madman. How could I forget? In the past, he was crazy enough to kill his wife and daughter before taking his own life.
In this life, under complete despair, he would only become even more insane!
