Chapter 3
The door was gently knocked again.
“Ella, I am Cindy. Just give me face and come out to have lunch together.”
Since I was young, my parents and Noah have taught me to be polite. They told me to treat guests with respect, so I reluctantly opened the door.
At the dining table, Reynold remained silent but gently served Cindy with food.
In just a few minutes, a small mountain had piled up in front of her in the bowl.
“Reynold, Ella is still here. Ella was already in a bad mood last night, and now she will be jealous
again.”
Reynold coldly looked up at me and said, “She was jealous, but you are the one I wanted to marry. I treated her like a sister, just like Noah.”
I sat silently, eating the rice in my bowl, the taste as bland as wax.
My brother opened his mouth, but hesitated to speak, repeatedly sighing.
Cindy had food residue at the corner of her mouth, and Reynold helped her wipe it off, but Cindy stopped him with a smile.
“Reynold, I wanted you to clean it with your mouth.”
She leaned her face forward voluntarily.
Reynold hesitated for a moment, then smiled and kissed her.
Cindy proudly turned to me and said, “Ella, don’t mind, but ever since that evening, Reynold had been relishing it. You’re still a single girl, but you’ll understand once you have a boyfriend in the
future.”
I ate a meal that tasted like wax, and I put down my fork. “I am full. You guys can take your ti
eat.”
Even though my brother was foolish, he still knew about their affair.
After dinner, he got so angry that he slapped his thigh.
“You little fool, how did you just let that great opportunity slip away last night and give it to that stupid Cindy!”

“Reynold couldn’t see that she had ulterior motives, but can’t I see it either? Today, they were showing affection at the dinner table, deliberately trying to provoke you, I’ve been saying that you and Reynold have feelings for each other…”
I interrupted him, “Noah, don’t say such things in the future.”
My brother looked at me in disbelief.
I smiled and said, “I didn’t like Reynold anymore. Noah, can you help me arrange a blind date?”
My brother indeed still cared about me.
He confirmed multiple times that I was not joking, and finally he let out a long sigh of relief.
“Little sister, you finally came to your senses. I had been advising you not to hang yourself on just one tree. Although Reynold is an outstanding man, there are many more men who are even more exceptional than him.”
“I will contact Kevin Harris for you right away, the previous marriage candidate you rejected. His family’s business is much larger than the Marvey family’s, and he is also good–looking. Plus, just like you, he has never been in a relationship before. When you two meet, you never know, you might just end up liking him.”
I obediently added the contact information on my phone, thinking that it would be difficult to give up on Reynold. But when I actually did, I realized it wasn’t that hard after all.
This time, I could finally change the fate of my daughter and me.
“Reynold, could you help me put the suitcase back in your
room?”
Cindy’s voice came with a smile.
She finished speaking and turned to look at me,
“Ella.”
“Reynold’s villa was not yet fully renovated, and he wanted to see me all the time, so I had no choice but to move in and stay with him for a few days. I hope you don’t mind, right?”
I shook my head, “Of course I didn’t mind.”
I watched as Reynold helped her with the luggage, busy and bustling around, and I chuckled self–deprecatingly.
Thinking about the past, after that one–night stand, Reynold, fearing that Cindy would be heartbroken, sent her abroad under the pretext of furthering her studies.
After hastily completing the wedding, he also lived abroad for many years.

I gave birth to my daughter Stacy alone, anxiously waiting for him to come back, but I waited until he appeared at the airport hand in hand with Cindy.
Back then, his gaze towards me was always cold and indifferent, unlike now, which falls warmly on
Cindy.
I had just turned around when suddenly I bumped into something. Cindy was holding a basin of water and accidentally splashed herself, causing her to let out a scream.
“Cindy!”
Reynold’s face changed, and he immediately rushed over to protect Cindy, looking at me warily.
Cindy hid in his arms, crying.
“Ella, if you didn’t want me to move in, you could have just said so. This outfit was just a gift from Reynold, it’s expensive and I really cherish it. Why did you have to deliberately bump into me and get it dirty?”
I explained helplessly, “I didn’t, I didn’t mean to…”
“That’s enough!”
Reynold interrupted sharply, “Ella, I told you not to play these tricks. If you don’t like Cindy moving in, we will move out the day after tomorrow.”
Then he didn’t give me the chance to explain at all.
I picked up Cindy in the middle and went back to change clothes.
Cindy, however, hooked her arm around his neck and gave me a smug smile.
