Chapter 7
Hana didn’t know what method she had used.
That night, both mom and dad, as well as Jace, unexpectedly came back.
A family of five, two employees, and two dogs filled the living room, and my first–ever family
meeting began.
Hana started.
“Dad, Mom, I wished I could become your real daughter!”
My parents exchanged a glance.
“Did the appraisal report come out?”
My mom asked, and she specifically picked up a calendar and flipped through it: “Has time passed so quickly? I feel like I just left home yesterday…“.
The indifferent father frowned and lowered his head to start checking his computer emails: “Did we not secure any of the projects in the southern part of the city for the past three months? The planning department has a bunch of useless people.”
Jace: “3 days, 18 hours, and 37 minutes.”
My dad and my mom put down what they were holding and, coincidentally, let out a sigh of relief.
Hana looked even more aggrieved.
“Dad, what I mean is, I finally came back and I hope to take on the responsibilities that a daughter of the Fenn family should take, instead of just wasting away like she did, at such a young age…”
Hana pointed at me.
Jace understood. “You wanted to be the heir?”
His tone was indifferent, his narrow eyes fixed on Hana, and the insight in his eyes made he feel a bit breathless.
Hana said seriously, “The children of the Fenn family were all the same, I just wanted to share the burden and be a pride in the eyes of Mom and Dad, just like Jace!”
“Dad, believe me this once, I have always regarded you as a role model! I aspired to become someone like you! Please give me a chance to prove it!”

I couldn’t help it and quickly covered my mouth.
“Cough, cough.”
Cora and Marco reminded me behind me.
I quickly put away the big tooth that I hadn’t hidden properly and continued to lower my presence
obediently.
Hana continued to speak, talking about the years of loneliness and longing to find a sense of
belonging.
Tears and sobs filled the air.
My mother was moved.
“The child just wanted a sense of belonging, or else…”
My father still frowned, exuding a strong aura.
At that moment, Jace spoke.
“I had no objection.”
Hearing Jace say this, my dad finally relented.
“Okay, Marco, arrange a class for her tomorrow.”
Hana was overjoyed.
When he saw me, he had a haughty expression on his face.
I lowered my head and let out a deep sigh.
The young woman, she had no idea what she was about to face…
***
The first day of arranging the course.
Hana cried again.
Looking at the books and exercise books that were so tall that she couldn’t even see the top, her brain was about to shrink.

Marco stood by, his expression unchanged. “Miss, starting from today, I will hire teachers from various fields to provide you with one–on–one tutoring. Everything will be done according to Jace’s rules, but he has been studying since childhood, so his progress is definitely faster than yours…”
“But you don’t have to worry, I have already arranged a systematic learning plan to ensure that you can catch up quickly.”
The content of today included finance, management, market analysis, planning, piano, foreign languages, and astronomy.
“Wait!”
Hana couldn’t bear it anymore, trembling lips, tears seemed to be about to fall in the next second, still clinging to a lingering obsession and asked, “Why did I have to study astronomy?”
Marco: “Not only that, but you also have to learn household chores. The Fenn family’s children excelled in everything, being well–rounded.”
Hana: “But she was very free!”
Hana excitedly pointed at me.
I, who was engrossed in watching TV shows while munching on potato chips, looked up in confusion and met Hana’s bloodshot eyes. I confidently replied, “I’m just living a life of idleness and waiting for death.”
Hana’s face turned as red as a pig’s liver.
