The Belated Fatherly Love
Chapter One
The car crash happened so fast. My daughter
was trapped inside, the door mangled and
impossible to open, the battery about to
explode.
My husband, the rescue team captain,
received a call.
It was from his ex–girlfriend, Sarah.
“Ethan, little Timmy is terribly carsick! What
should I do?”
Without a word, he abandoned my daughter
and left.
I begged him to save her first, but he kicked
me away.
“Don’t you understand how awful carsickness
is? I’ve never seen anyone as heartless as
you!”
He even took all the rescue team members
with him leaving me alone.
Г
My hands were bleeding, the wounds deep. I
couldn’t open the car door.
My daughter was trapped. She was burned
alive in the explosion.
Ethan was nearby, holding Sarah’s son,
soothing him gently.
“There, there, Timmy. A little candy will make
the carsickness go away.”
He came running over when he heard my
screams, slapping me without a word.
“It’s a happy day out, why are you wailing like
this?”
I looked at him in despair, my daughter’s cries
still echoing in my ears.
I pointed to the charred remains of the car.
“Your daughter is burned to a crisp inside,
Ethan! You ask me why I’m crying? Do you
even have a heart?”
Ethan was startled. He glanced inside, then
laughed.
く
“Chelsea, you almost got me! You’re saying
all this just to get my attention, to compete
with Sarah! I know it was just a dummy doll
inside!”
“To get your attention, you cursed your own
daughter! Are you even human?”
I stared at him, my nails digging into my
palms, blood flowing, but I felt no pain.
Sarah, standing beside him, smirked briefly.
Then, she feigned concern.
“Sister, even if you’re jealous, you can’t lie
about your child! Don’t you fear karma for
this terrible lie, for competing for attention
like this! As a mother, I can’t stand this kind
of thing…”
She began to sob dramatically, as if
heartbroken.
But just moments ago, she’d deliberately
called Ethan away from the car when she saw
my daughter trapped.
“My Timmy has terrible carsickness; he could
even have a life–threatening episode! Ethan,
it’s a life!”
Ethan turned away from the car and rushed
to her side.
Before leaving, Ethan glared at me with
disgust.
“I already called the nanny; she’s comforting
the kids. Chelsea, l’know you didn’t bring your
daughter. It’s just a doll! You’re vicious; you
wasted public resources with your lies. I
should have never married you!”
He ordered his team:
“No one helps her! Anyone who does gets a
major reprimand and is fired!”
The team members hesitated, some wanting
to risk it to check.
Then, a huge explosion.
The car engulfed in flames.
Ethan comforted Sarah’s child and mocked
<
- me.
“Chelsea, you’re impulsive; there’s no one in
there, and you still claim your daughter is
inside! You’re trying to murder me for the
inheritance!”
He was triumphant, but a rescue worker
shouted in terror.
