Until Monday, when he saw Sarah,
he realized she was serious about the divorce.
Sarah called out his name.
He turned to look; his first impression was
that she’d become so thin in half a year.
Sarah’s previously chubby face now showed a
clear jawline.
Her collarbone was even more prominent,
making her look frail.
Didn’t she eat properly?
Jason frowned with worry, a pang of
heartache involuntarily surfacing.

But before he could ask, Sarah mentioned
waiting two hours for him after his meeting.
He hadn’t had a meeting.
But he knew who had told Sarah that.
His first thought wasn’t to reprimand Lily.
But to look at Sarah properly.
He hadn’t seen Sarah in six months.
Even though Sarah had been irrational and had repeatedly strained their relationship,
Jason still realized his true love was her.
This love was different from his love for Lily.
For Lily,
it was based on the influence of youth,
physical attraction, and hormones.
For Sarah, it was love and heartache from the
depths of his soul.
“We’ve been together for so many years; I
won’t shortchange you. You can choose any
car or house you want; if you have other
requests, feel free to mention them.”

While Sarah was reviewing the divorce
agreement,
Jason’s gaze remained on Sarah.
He wanted to look at her carefully.
He offered to fulfill Sarah’s other requests.
Hoping Sarah’s “other requests” would be to
not divorce him.
But unexpectedly, Sarah only asked for their
old house.
The whole process took less than five
minutes.
Impossible. She couldn’t actually divorce him!
She didn’t do anything else.
She should have more to say.
Jason watched her.
But until Sarah left, she didn’t leave him with
a single extra word.
