The essay contest prize reminded me to
submit my work online.
I saved enough for college tuition, gaining
some online recognition.
My personality changed. I was more open and
participated in school activities, winning
awards. My grades remained high.
I didn’t go home that year, staying in a small
hotel during breaks or working at an internet
cafe.
My brother came to find me, asking me to
return, but I refused.
That wasn’t my home. I would build my own.
In July, I received my acceptance letter from
Renmin University. Zach got into the Central
Academy of Fine Arts.
Seeing our letters, we smiled and made a
pact.
