The husband who was killed by his mistress was reborn and still chose
to save her.
Chapter 1
Last time around, my husband dragged his
pregnant mistress out to the boonies for
some kind of work thing, and they got
snatched by kidnappers.
The ransom they wanted was insane, and
after scraping around, I barely had enough to
get one of them back!
My dirtbag husband, without even thinking
about the mistress, was on his knees in the
ransom video, begging me to save his sorry
ass.
But get this: the whole kidnapping was a
く
setup!
The mistress orchestrated it to see if my
husband really loved her.
She hated the results and offed herself.
My husband’s reputation went straight down
the toilet. He was drowning in regret and
blamed me.
“If you’d just had the money, none of this
would have happened!”
To get back at me, he strapped me into his
car and drove us straight into the ocean.
I woke up, and we were both back. Reborn.
This time, my husband’s all righteous,
く
demanding I save the mistress first.
What he doesn’t know is this time, the
kidnapping’s for real.
One:
My phone was blinking like crazy. On, off, on,
off. Finally, on the fifth time, I picked up.
“Mom…”
Before I could get another word out, my
mother–in–law, Carol, was screaming through
the phone. Sounded like she was trying to
blow out my eardrums. “Are you dead in a
ditch somewhere? Kevin’s been kidnapped!
The kidnappers can’t get ahold of you, so
they called me. Get your butt over here, now!”
Carol hung up before I could even answer.
<
I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled.
Here we go.
Last time, I woke up to a ransom video of my
husband, Kevin, and some bimbo, Tiffany,
being held hostage in the middle of nowhere. They were supposedly kidnapped while Kevin
was “working.”
Kevin was freaking out, on his knees, begging
me to save him and Tiffany.
I didn’t even have time to process that my
husband was cheating. I just focused on
getting him back. So, I followed the
kidnappers‘ instructions, didn’t call the cops,
and got the ransom ready.
But after the money was wired, the
kidnappers pulled a fast one. Said it was only
<
enough for one person. Kevin got to choose.
Without missing a beat, Kevin chose himself.
That’s when Kevin and I learned the whole
kidnapping was Tiffany’s idea. She was
testing Kevin’s love for her.
Kevin failed the test. Tiffany, heartbroken,
killed herself.
After Tiffany’s death, the video of Kevin being
a coward went viral. He was a pariah. People
spat on him, everywhere he went.
Kevin had already lost Tiffany. Now, he went
ballistic. He blamed me for everything and
decided to take us both out.
<
I took a deep breath. Reborn, and I was
gonna make Kevin pay.
Two:
I put on my best act: all flustered and
panicky. I showed up at Carol’s place. Kevin’s
three sisters were already there, all grim–
faced and stressed.
Carol looked like she was about to lose it.
I steadied myself. “Mom, you said Kevin’s in
trouble? What happened?”
Big mistake. Carol exploded. She stormed
over and slapped me hard across the face.
“You witch! You have the nerve to ask?
I was stunned. I knew the whole story about
Kevin’s kidnapping, so I had no clue why this
was my fault!
But I couldn’t argue. I had to play along. I
dropped to my knees. “Mom, how’s Kevin
being kidnapped my fault? He told me he was
going out of state for work. It’s the
company’s fault he was kidnapped!”
Carol’s face changed, but she quickly went
back to her crazy self. She scoffed. “Kevin
wasn’t on a business trip. He was out
screwing around with that tramp, Tiffany!”
“If you could keep your husband happy, keep
him at home, then Kevin wouldn’t have
cheated.”
“If he wasn’t cheating, he wouldn’t have been
kidnapped! Who else is to blame but you?”
I almost laughed. What a twisted way of
looking at it. I was the victim here, the poor
woman betrayed by her husband. And now I
was responsible?
I didn’t argue. I just slumped onto the floor,
pretending to be devastated. “Oh no, oh no. Is
Kevin okay? Have you talked to him? What do
the kidnappers want?”
Seeing how worried I was about Kevin
seemed to calm Carol down. “They said
they’d call back later because you weren’t
answering your phone.”
Just then, Carol’s phone rang. It was a video
call from Kevin.
His sister, Amy, quickly mirrored the screen
on the TV. Kevin and Tiffany appeared, tied to
chairs. They were a little dirty, but seemed
uninjured. And oddly calm, not exactly like
people who’d been kidnapped.
Three:
Carol started wailing. “My baby! My baby! Let
my son go! He’s all I have!”
She shoved me hard. “Look what you’ve done
to my son! You should just die!”
20
Kevin nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it’s all
your fault. If you hadn’t forced me to marry
you, if you’d just let me get a divorce, I
wouldn’t have had to sneak around with
Tiffany.”
I rolled my eyes as I hit the floor.
Kevin had chased me for years. Plus, he’d
been hiding his affair pretty well, acting like
Mr. Perfect Husband in front of me.
