Mr. Zhou was impatient.
“I’ll sign another year’s contract with you,
consider it compensation for your wife’s life. I’ll even send her body back to your family’s house. I’ve done my part.”
Ethan finally lost it, punching him in the face.
“Say it again!”
“Who told you to touch her? I’ll kill you!”
Punch after punch, with brutal force.
Ethan beat Mr. Zhou until he ended up in the
hospital.
While hospitalized, Mr. Zhou was reported.
Women he’d previously been with came
forward, accusing him of rape.
He was released from the hospital and
immediately arrested.
For days, Ethan avoided the reality of my
death, he couldn’t even look at my body.
It was Ethan’s father who arranged the
funeral.
No one dared mention my name; it became
taboo in the family.
On the day of my burial, Ethan was drunk.
When he returned, Tommy clung to his leg.
“Daddy, I don’t want Mommy to die, can you bring her back?”
The word “dead” seemed to shock Ethan.
He paused, lifted Tommy with one hand, his
voice slurred.
<
“Who told you she’s dead? She’s not dead!”
“And why didn’t you call her Mommy before?” Tommy kicked his legs in the air, crying
hysterically under Ethan’s questioning.
A maid intervened, claiming Ethan’s grandfather wanted to see Tommy.
On the seventh day after my death, all the
guests came to pay their respects, except
Ethan.
He sat quietly on the bed in his room,
crumpling the divorce papers I’d left behind.
After a long time, he looked at the wedding
photo on the wall.
I was wearing a simple wedding dress, smiling
brightly, leaning on him..
His face was icy, without a trace of a smile.
He married me to get revenge.
Even the wedding dress and ring were the
cheapest he could find.
But I didn’t think much of it, I wholeheartedly
く
played the role of his wife.
Ethan wasn’t unmoved by me over the years.
But he couldn’t forget that my actions led to
his mother’s death.
In a daze, he seemed to see me walking
towards him.
Ethan hugged the figure.
“Sarah, is that you? You’re back?”
He greedily inhaled her scent.
It wasn’t gardenia, it was the pungent smell
of opium.
Ethan suddenly came to his senses, realizing
who was in his arms.
Vivian patted his face, her voice soft.
“Ethan, let me be your wife. I can do
everything she did for you.”
She was wearing a low–cut dress, pressed
close to him.
Ethan angrily pushed her away.
“Who let you into this room? Get out!”
<
Vivian’s face turned pale, her eyes full of
resentment.
When I was alive, Ethan brought her to the
house more than once, even allowing Tommy
to call her “Linda.”
Vivian thought she was important to him.
Having finally gotten rid of me, Ethan couldn’t
let go.
She was so upset.
Vivian touched her belly, a glint of calculation
in her eyes.
“Ethan, I’m pregnant with your child.”
Ethan quietly looked at her belly, a curve on
his lips.
“Are you sure it’s mine?”
Vivian trembled under his straightforward
gaze.
But this was her last chance to stay with him,
she had to grasp it.
“It’s your child, don’t you believe me?”
Ethan’s smile deepened.
“How many months?”
“Fo…four.”
As soon as she spoke, Ethan dragged Vivian
to the hospital.
Vivian thought he was taking her for a
checkup, but it was for a paternity test.
An hour later, the report was slapped in her
face.
Vivian was clearly incredulous.
“It’s not yours, it’s impossible. During
ovulation, I clearly…”
“Clearly you tampered with it, right?”
Ethan pinched her chin, his eyes full of
disgust.
He was always cautious in such matters, he
wouldn’t allow any woman besides me to bear
his child.
That was his bottom line.
Vivian laughed bitterly after a long silence.
“Everyone says you’re a womanizer, but it seems you’re actually a devoted lover. But Sarah will never know your deep affection,
she’s dead, hahaha…”
Looking at Vivian’s crazed expression, Ethan’s
eyes turned colder.
That day, Vivian was fired from the dance
studio.
The jewelry she took from Song’s shops was
sent a lawyer’s letter for extortion.
She went back to her old job.
Her livestream had over ten thousand viewers,
but no one dared to give her gifts.
For months, Ethan lived in a daze, his heart
empty, as if he had lost something important.
Sometimes, he’d wake up parched in the
middle of the night and call out.
“Sarah, get me some water.”
He would touch the cold space beside him in
bed.
His heart felt like it was filled with stones,
suffocating him.
One day, he was at the family home, and he
heard his father and grandmother arguing in
the study.
Ethan felt a surge of fear and helplessness.
