He gave me to my first love for
research.
Chapter 1
I’m a mermaid, and Jason bought me for
thirty million dollars.
He married me, and we even had a daughter.
Seven years later, he trapped me and our
daughter in a fish tank and gave us to his first
love, Sarah.
He told Sarah, “As you requested, I’ve kept
them in water with the special formula for
seven years. Now you can use them for your
research.”
“I can finally marry you. You’ve always been
the only one I love.”

But he didn’t know I could feel his love for
- me.
He had fallen for me, he just didn’t realize it.
“No, Jason! Let Lily and me go!”
I pounded on the glass of the fish tank.
Jason stood outside, gazing tenderly at
Sarah.
“Sarah, what’s the next step?”
Sarah laughed. “Prepare the injection. It’s
Г
time to revert them back to their mermaid
forms.”
Panic seized me.
We weren’t in the ocean. If we transformed
into mermaids without seawater, Lily and I
would die.
Sensing Jason’s heart beating for me, I
pleaded desperately, “Jason, you said you
loved me! You promised we’d be together
forever!”
“How could you betray me?”
He glanced at me coldly.
“Ariel, I never loved you.”
<
“If it weren’t for Sarah’s research, I wouldn’t
have wasted all these years with you and this
little brat.”
I froze. All his kindness had been a lie.
All those trips to the beach.
Searching for our favorite seaweed.
All an act.
Tears streamed down my face. Each breath
was a stab of pain.
Jason picked up a syringe and approached.
His familiar face now seemed so alien.‘
“Daddy, no!”
く
Lily cried, shrinking back in fear.
Jason used to adore Lily.
He once spent hours diving to find a rare type
of seaweed she loved.
He’d said, “My daughter and Ariel are the
most important people in my life. I’ll give you
anything you want.”
Now I realized his affection was a cruel
deception.
“Jason, don’t you dare touch Lily!”
I shielded Lily with my body, facing Jason.
Just yesterday, he’d held me close and
whispered, “I bought a house by the ocean.
and I built you a home in the sea, too.”
“You’ll be able to swim freely every day.”
“And I’ll always be there with you, on the shore.”
Now, he held a syringe, ready to inject us.
Why? Why were humans so deceitful?
“Jason, do it to me. Just leave Lily alone.”
“Please.”
I knelt, begging.
“Ariel, it’s no use.”
Jason’s voice was cold.
r
“No matter how much you beg, I won’t spare
you. I never loved you.”
“I was only pretending.”
“I was nice to you only so I could give you to
Sarah for her research after seven years.”
His words chilled me to the bone.
