- 4.
I don’t know how long passed before Jason
woke me.
He held a plate of seaweed in front of me.
Lily lay beside me, covered in wounds, still
unconscious.
“Eat something. As long as you cooperate, Sarah won’t kill you.”
The seaweed was my favorite. He used to
have it specially delivered every week.
Now, it disgusted me. I pushed the plate
away.
“Jason, you do love me. Why won’t you admit
it?”
I stared at him, searching his eyes.
He hesitated, then stepped back.
“Don’t be ridiculous. I don’t love you. I was
<
only with you for Sarah.”
Just then, Sarah appeared.
Jason rushed to embrace her, his voice
gentle. “What are you doing here? You need
to rest. You’re pregnant.”
Sarah smiled. “I’m fine. I just wanted to check
on things.”
I felt like I’d been plunged into icy water.
I couldn’t believe my ears.
Sarah was pregnant.
So Jason had been sleeping with her all
along?
And I had been completely oblivious.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Sarah
glared at me.
“Are you upset that I’m pregnant?”
“Jason and I have been together for a long
time. Seven years ago, I asked him to buy
you, to pretend to be with you. It was all for
my research. I wanted you to get pregnant, to
see what kind of offspring you would
produce!”
Jason remained silent.
Anger and pain tore through me, erupting in a
series of anguished screams.
Sarah laughed, and Jason kissed her.
く
whispering his love.
So the word “love” wasn’t meant for just one
person.
