His words meant nothing to me.
All I saw was a monster.
I would never forget him stabbing me, ripping
away my scales, offering me to those men,
causing the death of our child.
“I hate you, Jason.”
Г
“Don’t hate me.” He embraced me, his voice
choked with anguish.
“That day… when I pushed you away… it was

“When I saw our second daughter… I
realized… My heart broke.” Tears streamed
down his face.
“Get away from me.” I shoved him away,
holding Lily close.
“Jason, I’ll never forget that you bought me

“You were the first human I ever loved. And
you gave me away to be experimented on.”
“I’ll never forgive you.”
I picked up Lily and turned towards the
ocean.
He grabbed my hand.
“Don’t leave!”
“Please, Ariel. I understand now.”
“I’ll make it up to you, I promise. I’ll make it
up to both of you.”
“Make it up to us?” I stared at him.
“The scars on my body, the scars on Lily’s
body… those are real. How can you ever
a
く
make that up to us?”
“Jason, just go. It’s over.”
I still couldn’t understand how someone could
be so blind to their own heart. How could he
have loved me and yet treated me so cruelly?
