The Pain Again 16

Chapter 16

As soon as Amanda’s words left her lips, the room fell dead silent

Jarrett’s eyes were filled with pain as he tightly gripped the medical report. Brice let out a deep sigh

Helen, however, seemed to take it all in stride. She patted Jarrett’s hand and said, It’s alright, honey. Knowing that you found your parents and are doing well before I leave, I can die in peace.”

Mom.Jarrett’s voice cracked, and his eyes turned red instantly

Helen lowered her head, fighting back tears. The sadness between them was palpable

Amanda watched them for a moment and couldn’t help but add, What I meant was, I can make you live.”

Instantly, everyone looked up at her with shock

Brice blinked in surprise and asked, Manda, you can heal people?”

Amanda nodded and replied, I know a bit. I once cured a patient with stomach cancer before.”

Everyone was even more dumbfounded that Amanda even knew Helen had stomach cancer

Before anyone could question how Amanda knew medical knowledge, Jarrett’s face flashed with excitement. Ms. Corkery, if you can save my mom, I’ll do whatever you want. Anything”

Amanda’s eyes lit up. Really?”

He nodded. Really.”

Amanda took Helen’s pulse, checked her condition, and gave a small nod. When are you leaving? Once I finish up here. I’ll make the medicine for you

Jarrett was quick to respond. Take your time. We’ll wait for you.”

After a quick nod to Brice, Amanda headed back to Richard’s room. When she saw the resentment on the girls’s faces had clearly faded, she said. Time to send you to your next life.”

Her eyes then landed on Nina, and she added, And you too

Nina nodded as she looked at Richard and said, Richie, I’m leaving, Take care of yourself, alright?”

OK.Richard nodded solemnly. His eyes turned red, but he didn’t stop Nina, He understood that ghosts and humans were on different paths

Amanda pulled out a talisman and murmured an incantation. Then, a black hole appeared in the room, which was Gateway to the Netherworld

She turned to them and said, Come on.”

Nina, with the girls following closely behind, stepped toward the hole. Within moments, their figures vanished

Richard stood frozen for a second and asked in surprise, It’s done? Just like that?”

Amanda nodded and replied, Yep, it’s not that hard

He watched her casual demeanor, and a small laugh escaped him

It was a simple task for just Amanda. To normal people, it was mindblowing

Meanwhile, in a corner of Silvermoor, a group of robed figures looked outside, looking puzzled. One of them said, That’s weird. I feel like the Gateway to the Netherworld just opened.”

One of his companions replied, That’s impossible. The Gateway hasn’t opened in ten years. Who could do that?”

The first man said, No, I’m sure it’s the energy from the Gateway. We need to have someone check it out immediately

Amanda was completely unaware that she had caught some people’s attention. Once she finished her task, she turned to Richard and said, By the way, you need to pay for the cost of their reincarnation. 30,000 dollars per person, 180,000 dollars in total. Make sure you pay me back.”

Richard looked at Amanda, knowing that she was giving him a reason to live and keep going. He felt warm in his heart, and he nodded. Okay, I’ll pay you back.”

Amanda, however, had no such lofty thoughts. She was just in it for the money

Seeing the flush of life returning to Richard’s face, Amanda nodded in satisfaction. She wasn’t worried about him backing out, she knew his good luck was about to kick in

Amanda knew earning money in the entertainment industry was simple, so collecting 180,000 dollars from him didn’t faze her one bit

Thinking about the money she was about to get, Amanda happily walked away

She returned to Helen’s room with the herbs she’d prepared. Under Jarrett and the others’s eager eyes, she pulled out an old, dusty medicine furnace from her bag. It looked like it hadn’t been used in years

But Amanda treated it like a treasure, handling it carefully

The others stared at her, completely baffled. No one could figure out what she was doing

Then Amanda took out a Flame Talisman and waved her hand, making the furnace light up. She poured all the herbs into it. looking like she was brewing some sort of elixir, just like something out of the TV drama

Jarrett frowned slightly, wanting to say something but holding back. He thought, Why does this suddenly feel a bit unreliable?”

Brice had the same feeling, but he didn’t want to speak up, so he just stood there and waited

Amanda didn’t care what they thought. She put her full attention on the furnace. Her expression was distant, almost lost in thought

The furnace was something Amanda took with her from my teacher when I left. She hadn’t seen them in a long time. But they probably didn’t want to see her anyway

A hint of melancholy flickered across her face as she lowered her gaze, The air around her suddenly felt lonely

Brice watched her with concern in his eyes, unsure of how to comfort her

As he was thinking this, a fragrant smell suddenly filled the air. He couldn’t help but inhale deeply and exclaimed, Wow, it smells amazing

He sniffed again, and his gaze landed back on the furnace. He guessed the scent seemed to come from there

Amanda snapped out of her daze and opened the furnace lid. Almost immediately, a strong medicinal aroma wafted out. It was refreshing, clearing her mind and making her feel much more awake

The others were wideeyed, unable to believe what they were seeing

Amanda took a few pills from the furnace, frowned slightly, and muttered, Too bad the potency is pretty weak”

Jarrett couldn’t say anything. He thought it was already impressive

Amanda thought to herself, Well, just use them for now

She shook her head, placing the pills into a small porcelain bottle and handing it to Helen. Take one a day. It’s enough for a werk. Once you’re done, come and find me. By the way, try to find some better herbs. That’ll make it more effective.”

As she spoke, she handed the prescription to them. Brice hurriedly took it and asked with surprise, Manda, you’re just giving us the prescription? Aren’t you worried we’ll tell others?”

Amanda gave him a strange look and replied, It’s just a regular prescription. Who would you even tell?”

Brice’s gut told him this prescription wasn’t just regular. But seeing the disdain on her face, he decided to keep that thought to himself

How long until we see results?Jarrett asked, his voice tinged with worry

Amanda thought for a moment and replied. It’ll take about a month for a full recovery”

A month? Full recovery?Jarrett’s eyes went wide

Amanda scratched her head, looking a bit guilty. Yeah, a month might be a bit long, but that’s all I can do. The herbs aren’t that great.”

Jarrett’s thoughts raced. No, that’s not what I meant

He stared at Amanda, still processing. He thought a month would be way too short. The doctors had said Helen’s cancer was in the final stages and didn’t recommend surgery anymore, afraid she wouldn’t survive the operation

He figured Amanda’s treatment might only help extend her life, but to hear her say full recovery in just a month? That was something he hadn’t even dared to imagine

He immediately bowed deeply to Amanda and said with a serious expression, Ms. Corkery, I can never thank you enough. I’ve made up my mindI’ll tutor you, and I swear I’ll make sure you get into a top university in three years.”

At his words. Amanda froze. She puffed out her cheeks, staring at Jarrett with furious eyes. Her hands were shaking pointed at him, practically spitting with anger. HHow ungrateful you are.”
