Chapter 6: Clean
Later that night, after showering, I realized
Jake and Lily’s room was next to mine.
The old house didn’t have the best
soundproofing.
I’d barely stepped out of the bathroom when I
heard the sounds of passionate kissing next
door.
“Jake, why haven’t you thrown those clothes
away? Aren’t they disgusting?”
Jake held the back of Lily’s head, his eyes
hardening.
<
His voice turned icy. “I just want to remind
Sarah how she used to beg me.”
“That weakling Asher, can he satisfy her?”
“She’s just using him to get back at me.”
I found it amusing.
I wouldn’t stoop so low as to use another man
to spite him.
I turned around, bumping into Asher’s dark
eyes.
He’d come to bring me warm milk.
But tonight, he was different.
He silently placed the milk on the table and
turned to leave.
Asher had a habit of walking slowly when he
was upset.
On tiptoe, I felt a sudden urge to tease him.
I grabbed his wrist, my eyes trailing down his
body.
He was wearing a black bathrobe, his abst
faintly visible underneath.
<
Below that, everything was hidden.
“You heard all that?”
I asked softly. Asher’s eyes darkened, and he
nodded.
I pretended to think for a moment. I picked up
the milk and took a sip.
“So, Asher, can you?”
The moment I spoke, Asher slammed the door
shut.
I felt his knee press against me.
A wave of heat rushed through me.
“Miss, do you know what you’re asking?”
His breath was hot against my skin, his
forehead damp with sweat.
It made his pale face look almost ghostly, but
alluring.
I stammered, my ears burning, but I kept up
the act.
“That time I walked in on you, you clearly…”
He covered my mouth
<
Asher never set boundaries with me.
My door was never locked. He was always
there when I called, even knowing my lingerie
size.
So, the first time I walked in on him standing
in the shower for an hour…
I called his name impatiently.
Just that one word, and I heard him groan.
He came out quickly, but he pushed me away,
flustered.
If it weren’t for the faint musky scent in the
bathroom, I might not have realized how much
I affected him.
It wasn’t until later, talking to a more
experienced friend, that I understood what
had happened that night.
After that, I fled to the city, partly to escape
Asher.
From the moment I called his name to his
reaction, it had only taken a few seconds.
く
Now, his bathrobe had come undone. His
brows furrowed as he grabbed my wrist.
“Whether I can or not, why don’t you try and
find out?”
His eyes were downcast, his eyelids flushed.
It made him look strangely vulnerable.
I wasn’t one for holding back. I followed his
lead, my fingers tracing his skin.
I soon found what I was looking for.
He was just as much of a man as Jake, if not
more so.
And he smelled cleaner.
I tried to untie his robe.
He stopped me, looking tormented.
“Is this to spite him?”
I paused, confused by his train of thought.
He sighed heavily, his voice trembling.
“Fine, even if it is, it’s fine.”
“You’re the Miss. You decide.”
He closed his eves his lashes fluttering.
く
waiting for my next move.
He didn’t know how much he looked like he
was about to be ravished.
I reached past him, picked up the warm milk,
and drank it all.
When I opened my eyes, I saw a flicker of
disappointment in his eyes.
I patted the bed next to me.
“Asher, I’m not using you.”
“Come here. Sleep with me.”
He moved towards me stiffly, like a robot.
He lay down beside me, the bed dipping
slightly.
I snuggled into his arms, pulling his hand
around my waist.
“You’re my fiancé, anyway.”
“A pre–marital trial. No disappearing in the
middle of the night.”
He nodded, still stiff.
