Chapter 11:
Before he could finish speaking. Emmett’s voice faltered, and he froze, his breath caught in his throat.
The person who appeared at the door wasn’t Athena but a delivery man, his uniform unmistakable. He held a small box and, with a polite. smile, handed it to Emmett
“Hello, I have a package for Mr. Davidson from Ms: Chancellor. Is Mr. Davidson here?“)
It was from Athenal
Emmett’s heart leaped. “I’m here“” he called out eagerly.
His mind raced as he recalled Athena’s promise of a new wedding gift. With that thought, his excitement only grew. He ripped open the box
Inside, a perfect white ceramic rested, its form unmistakably resembling him. His hands shook as he carefully unwrapped it, piece by piece./
“You really do love me…” Emmett whispered to himself, repeating the words repeatedly as the full shape of the ceramic came into view. The head of the ceramic was masterfully crafted, each detail fine and delicate. But as his gaze traveled downward, a jagged crack ran through the base like a lightning strike, connecting the top and bottom with a violent fissure. It looked as though a bolt from the heavens had struck it!
“Whoever betrays first will be struck by thunder…
The words echoed in Emmett’s mind, a chilling reminder of the promise they had made. His heart clenched, and for a moment, he couldn’t bring himself to accept it. He staggered backward, his hand slipping from the ceramic. It fell to the ground, shattering into countless pieces.
Who could tell him when Athena had discovered his affair?
The realization nearly drove him mad. How had things spiraled so far out of control?
At the same time Athena fled from the wedding, the world outside had erupted.
Aliana Forbes, the beloved actress, had gone to the hospital for a checkup, only to be caught by paparazzi. The once pure and innocent star was now scandalized, pregnant and unmarried.
The news spread like wildfire, and the following day, Azrael Davidson ordered Emmett to bring Aliana to the family home to explain himself.”
The moment they crossed the threshold, Azrael’s fury erupted. He swung his cane with all his might, striking Emmett across the back. “Scoundrel! Look at the mess you’ve made!”
Azrael’s rage was like a storm, and he brought the cane down again, leaving a deep red mark on Emmett’s white shirt.!!
Sweat beaded on Emmett’s forehead, the pain searing through him, but it was nothing compared to the chaos of the past few days. Athena’s abrupt departure from their wedding had thrown his world into turmoil, and now, Aliana’s pregnancy scandal had forced his hand.
The sting of the blow only sharpened his resolve. Through gritted teeth, Emmett said, “Aliana doesn’t want any title. Mrs. Davidson’s position will always be at Athena’s. She’s just upset I’ll bring her back.”
“Enough!” Azrael roared, raising his cane again. But before the strike could land, a figure dashed forward from behind.
Aliana gasped, rushing forward to shield Emmett. Her eyes pleaded with Azrael as she spoke, her voice laced with emotion.
“Mr. Davidson, I know you made Emmett promise to marry Athena out of gratitude. He gave you his word. I’m willing to stay with him without any title. But.., do you really want to tear us apart?”
Aliana placed a hand gently over her stomach, bowing deeply before Azrael. “Even if you won’t acknowledge me, the child growing inside me still cames the Davidson bloodline. Can you truly be so heartless as to reject your own great–grandchild?”
The weight of her words seemed to hang in the air, causing Azrael to hesitate, his stern demeanor faltering for a moment.
Aliana, ever the actress, had delivered her words with such conviction, her performance so convincing that it was almost as if a scene from a play was unfolding before them.
Azrael’s expression softened, doubt creeping into his eyes, but Emmett’s brow furrowed.
1 have to bring Athena back.”
