Several hands gripped Aliana tightly, holding her still as the doctor positioned the ultrasound probe.!!

The lead surgeon arrived late; his presence was as cold as his reputation. Once the family doctor of the Davidson household, he was known for his unquestioning obedience.
Yet, when a patient failed to show up for a follow–up after an abortion, he couldn’t help but ask the family about her condition.
“Mr. Davidson, how is the madam’s health? Was the fetus preserved?”
Emmett froze, a wave of panic crashing through him, his soaked clothes clinging to him as if trying to pull him down. His legs felt unsteady beneath him, the air suddenly too thick to breathe.
His voice shook as he demanded, “What did you say? What fetus?!||
The doctor, taken aback by Emmett’s reaction, realized too late that he had misspoken. With no choice but to face the truth, he hesitated before speaking.
“It’s Athena. The last time she fainted at home, I examined her and discovered she was pregnant. However, she showed signs of a potential miscarriage. I administered a progesterone shot. Has she been taking care of herself at home?”
