By the time I woke up, bright sunlight streamed through the curtains, making me sit groggily as my head throbbed with a hangover.
Sitting with only Damien’s shirt covering my naked body and my clothes neatly folded in a wash basket, memories of last night came flooding in making me facepalm my scarlet flushed cheeks.

I got up getting ready hurriedly as a mushy feeling engulfed me all over but even after waiting for two hours, there was no sign of Damien. Finally, unable to stand the silence, I approached the housekeeper who was already setting up the breakfast.
“Madam, Sir told me to cook all your favorite meals and prepare a hangover soup for you, I was just going to call for you.
“Where is Damien?” I asked slowly, my patience on its last end.
“Does he want me to eat all alone?” my voice cracked with pain despite making efforts to remain calm.
The housekeeper was surprised, her eyes widening as she explained hurriedly. “Miss Elena everyone knows that you are soon going to be the mistress of this household. I am sure sir must have his reasons to leave like this..!
He told me to inform you that this is a very important business trip, and he will return after three days. He left early this morning.” my heart sank with anguish as I sat down slowly.
“Alright” I whispered, blinking back the sour tears threatening to dribble down my eyes.”
“Mr. Giovanni also left these for you,” the housekeeper said smiling widely, handing me a bouquet of roses making it difficult to breathe. My stomach churned as I stared at the familiar blooms. Red roses. The same ones Alex, used to bring after every argument to pacify me.! A cold, hollow feeling spread through my chest as I settled down the flowers without another word and ate the food slowly without any joy.
For the entire day, while I was waiting for even a single call from Damien to explain himself, Damien on the other hand was sitting in front of a woman surrounded by three handsome bodyguards as they took turns filling her glass of red wine.!!

“If you think you can take Elena’s place, I suggest you get diagnosed instead of worrying about my sons. I will pretend that I never had this ridiculous conversation with you” when Damien decided to get up Melissa’s smile set into a straight line.
“Damien, do you think that I am like Alex Giovanni–your illegitimate brother’s mistress Jessica, who can only cry and rely on a man’s support? Disgusted by her, Damien left her neck making her fall down on the ground, gasping for air!
