She was in the car when Jason died.
He saved her life, and she was hospitalized
for two weeks, quickly moving onto a rich
guy.
Last time, I tried to get her to clear Jake’s
name of stealing his girlfriend; she refused to
<
make a video.
She said it would affect her current
relationship.
She was a gold–digger; what relationship?
They were already together.
He maintained his single image while I chased
him, even deceiving Jake.
I looked at Jason, anticipating the day he’d
see her true colors.
Perhaps to avoid escalation, Jason released
my wrist.
“Let’s have dinner, invite Jake.”
“No need.”
Jason looked at me, “Sarah, I’m leaving
tonight and won’t be back for a long time.
Could you message me often?”
“No. I don’t want my boyfriend to
<
misunderstand.”
Jason smiled, “Then I’ll wait for your
message.”
I turned to leave and saw Jake standing under
a tree. If it weren’t for his expressionless
face, I’d feel guilty.
I hurried to him, reaching for his bag.
He hid it, looking at Jason.
I followed his gaze, seeing Jason with the
woman in his car.
I withdrew my gaze, “Jake, what do you think
of me being with your brother?”
Jake asked expressionlessly, “What should I
think?”
I looked to the heavens.
I’d never see my boyfriend jealous.

After Jake’s discharge, we focused on
graduation.
We used to meet twice a week, now barely
once every two weeks.
We chatted less than before.
My roommate joked I had a fake relationship,
but we were planning to move in together.
It wasn’t easy; I had to manipulate Jake.
If we didn’t move in together, I might not see
him for a month.
The apartment was close to our workplaces,
convenient.
On our first day, Jake stayed out all night.
He said he was busy.
If I didn’t know his work habits, I would’ve
thought he was avoiding me.
He was busy for half a month.
<
He returned tired but with bright eyes.
“I have two days off. Where do you want to
go?”
I asked, “Anywhere?”
