Chloe didn’t expect her tactics to be
ineffective against Cole, she stuttered, her
eyes reddening.
“I… that’s not what I meant, it’s for the sake
of journalism, I don’t think Jenny would
mind.”
“I do mind. Who said I don’t mind? If you
want to play the saint, don’t drag others into
it.”
Cole’s words reassured me.
How could I have been so naive, thinking
everyone was like Liam?
Liam was rotten to the core, easily swayed.
Cole, however, was not.
I tore off the egg–stained part of my dress
and stood beside Cole.
We exchanged a smile, unspoken
understanding passing between us.
“Shall we go, fiancé?”
I smiled, showing him my marriage certificate.
く
“Let’s get married.”
“Thank you, Miss Zhao.‘
“”
As we turned to leave,
Liam, who had been silent, suddenly rushed
out.
His eyes were red, blocking us.
“Cole, are you crazy?”
“You’re marrying Jenny just to spite me?”
“You think I’ll believe you’ll really marry
Jenny? You’re just after the Nancheng land!”
I turned to Cole. He gave me a reassuring
look.
I felt relieved. I could leave everything to him.
Seeing our interaction, Liam went crazy,
trying to grab me.
Before he could touch me, Cole kicked him
away.
Liam fell, his face red with pain.
Cole dusted off his clothes, looking down at
Liam.
く
“I’m not as despicable as you, using your
beloved as a bargaining chip.”
“I’m good to the people I like, no reason
needed.”
“From today on, be respectful to my wife, or
I’ll beat you up every time I see you!”
Cole took my hand.
“Let’s go, honey.”
My face subtly flushed. Cole and I had known
each other for many years,
even longer than Liam and I. In high school,
we were classmates for a year.
He had a bad temper, and I had a fiery one,
so we often argued.
The teacher couldn’t stand it and separated
us, seating me with Liam.
I chased after Liam, and Cole’s attitude
towards me worsened. He would often make
me furious.
Liam fought with him many times for me,
<
turning them into enemies.
Until Cole went abroad to study, created his
company, and didn’t return for years. We lost
touch.
I didn’t expect him to answer my call today,
but he not only answered, he came.
When the red marriage certificate rested in
my hand, my eyes welled up.
Cole gently bumped my shoulder.
“Mrs. Gu, I look forward to it.”
When we went out, chaos reigned, even more
chaotic than before.
Liam and Fat Tony were fighting. Seeing Cole
and me hand–in–hand, Liam froze.
He rushed over, but Cole’s icy gaze stopped
him a few steps away. His eyes remained
fixated on me.
“You really married him?”
I shook the red booklet.
“It’s official.”
<
“I said it before, this wedding dress wasn’t
for you.
“”
“Liam, I don’t want you anymore. Please stay
away from me, I don’t want my husband to
misunderstand.
“”
I took out another ring and put it on Cole’s
finger.
“It’s simple, but I think Mr. Gu won’t mind.”
Cole smiled, “A dream come true.”
I met his gaze and was speechless.
Drones captured our happiness from all
angles.
Before leaving, Liam glared at me.
“You really think Cole genuinely married you?
Everyone knows he’s doing it to spite me!”
“I’ll wait for him to dump you, even if you beg
me then, I won’t look at you.
دو
“So happy about getting married, you’re
desperate to embarrass yourself.”
I ignored him.
く
News of our marriage spread quickly. I was
anxious, worried about his parents‘ reaction.
His parents praised me, teasing Cole.
“Finally, he got what he wanted!”
“Now that you’ve finally married her, don’t
forget the wedding, don’t let her run away!”
I blinked, seeing Cole’s flushed face.
Cole closed his laptop, trying to change the
subject.
I persisted.
“Unless you explain everything, you’re
sleeping in the study tonight.”
“Honey~”
“Fine, I’ll sleep in the study.”
Cole quickly hugged me.
“Alright, alright, I’ll tell you.
“”
“Actually, I fell for you first. I teased you to
get your attention, but you thought I was
targeting you.”
“That bastard Liam, knowing I liked you, still
<
approached you. He had ulterior motives.
Honey, thank goodness it’s me in the end.‘
After Liam and I were separated, Liam fought
with Cole for me. He said Cole had made
inappropriate comments about me, that he
liked me and would protect me.
My parents were divorcing, and I was upset.
Liam wrote me a letter every day.
So no matter how much he messed up, I
endured it.
But now Cole tells me he wrote those letters.
My head buzzed. I realized that Liam, who
hated trouble, wouldn’t have written me
letters every day.
And after Cole went abroad, the letters
stopped.
I was enlightened, but also amused.
“Why were you so dumb? Why didn’t you
confess bravely? I always thought you were
bullying me.”
“Honey, I really want to bully you now, shall
1?”
Our wedding was grand and highly publicized.
As I was reciting my vows,
Liam, ignoring security, rushed in. His face
was bruised and bloody, yet he charged
towards me.
Cole glanced at me and gestured to the
security to leave.
