“Aunt, I only respect elders who deserve
respect,”
I said coldly.
Amelia was furious. “You two just married
into this family for the money! How dare you
talk to me like that?!”
“You married a cripple! What’s so great
L
about that? And your sister has the nerve to
insult my husband? She should worry about herself!”
Amelia, despite being their aunt, spoke with venomous cruelty.
“One a ‘wife of a gay man,’ and the other a ‘woman who loves a cripple.‘ You two are a perfect match for those two.”
As soon as she spoke, Harrison Hayes
appeared.
His voice was icy. “Sorry, Aunt. To disappoint
you, my legs are fine, and Evelyn isn’t
Harrison Cole’s wife in the way you think.”
Seeing his legs, Amelia was stunned. “You…
your legs are healed?!”
She couldn’t believe it.
“How?!”
I smirked. “Aunt, why not? Isn’t my husband
your nephew? Why do you seem to want him
hurt?”
Harrison Hayes glanced at me, slightly
blushing. Maybe the word “husband”
embarrassed him.
“So what?! Even if your legs are healed, you
can’t inherit the company. You’re an impotent
fool, you can’t have children!”
Harrison Hayes‘ ability to… well, perform,
was something I knew more about than
Amelia.
“Aunt, don’t worry about that. He’s still better
than your husband.”
My sister chimed in. “Yeah, Aunt, you should
worry about yourself! Look at your husband.
He’s ugly and cheats on you. He might have
given you some disease. You should get a
check–up. You might be the one who doesn’t
live long.”
Amelia was beside herself. Old Man Harrison.
descended the stairs. She immediately
complained, “Dad! What kind of
granddaughters–in–law did you find?! They’re disrespectful and disgusting! Get rid of
them!”
Amelia thought her performance would work.
But Old Man Harrison had heard everything.
He wasn’t angry at us. He thought we were wonderful. “My granddaughters–in–law are
great. They defended their husbands, proving
I made the right choices.”
“As for you, Amelia, I wanted you to take over
the company. But you’ve disappointed me
greatly.”
“Dad!”
Before Amelia could finish, Old Man Harrison
angrily ordered her to leave.
She pointed at us and cursed. “You’ll regret
this!”
But we ignored her.
Harrison Cole was tenderly hugging my sister.
“Honey, thank you for loving me.‘
L
“What are you thanking me for? Thank your
lost love,”
I quickly cleared up the misunderstanding.
“No, Jess, you misunderstood. His lost love is
you.”
“What?!”
Harrison Cole blushed and explained
everything to my sister.
They looked at each other, eyes filled with
love.
