I looked at her desperate expression, and my expression remained calm and unfazed.
Dustin never understood how to love anyone. To him, women were nothing more than
disposable toys.
In the end, he always discarded them like garbage.
“Ms. Watson, everyone has to pay for their words and actions,” I said coldly.
I had no intention of staying to listen to her, and before Renata could say another word,
Dustin shoved her out.
He leaned over my bed, gently holding my hand.
“Lyanna, you heard it? She’s not pregnant. She’s been lying to you.
She won’t come around anymore, Lyanna. Can you forgive me?”
I looked him in the eye, and with absolute seriousness, I replied, “Dustin, do you really think
everything has come to this because of Renata?
For years, I’ve stayed by your side, loving you while you ignored me, humiliating me with
other women.
Now, my love for you has been drained. Do you think your promise will move me?”
Dustin looked like a child who had lost their favorite toy, throwing a tantrum.
“It’s not like that!
You’ve put up with it all these years. Why can’t you bear it just before the wedding?
I haven’t done anything worse than before, so why won’t you bear it this time?”
Seeing him break down, a sense of satisfaction quietly surged within me. It was as though all the years of pent–up resentment were finally being released.
Driven by a sense of vengeful excitement, I continued to provoke him.
“Dustin, I’m leaving because you don’t deserve another ounce of my effort.
Never show up in my life again. Just seeing you makes me sick.”
Without Dustin’s interference, the surgery went smoothly.
Since my condition wasn’t great, the doctor suggested I stay in the hospital for two more
days.
After the procedure, Dustin no longer stepped into my room but stubbornly waited outside.
Every day, he would ask the housekeeper to bring delicious, nutritious meals, but I returned
them all.
That night, Dustin returned with doughnuts from a popular shop that always had a long line.
Sometimes, it would take an hour wait or more.
He went to buy them himself, and when he came back, the doughnuts were still warm.
He cautiously said, “Lyanna, don’t you love these doughnuts? I brought them for you.”
I had once adored those doughnuts, begging him to go with me to get them. I had used every trick in the book to get him to agree. But just before we left, he was called away by a phone
call from his lover.

Now, with the doughnuts in front of me, I didn’t even feel the slightest desire to eat them.
What I couldn’t get before, I didn’t want now.
When I was discharged, Dustin drove to pick me up, standing awkwardly beside the car.
“Lyanna, come home with me.”
He looked worn down, his posture slumped, his face full of guilt. Somehow, he looked like a dog abandoned by its owner.
I ignored him and walked past, hailing a cab to the hotel I had booked.
Kendrick had already secured my study abroad qualification. I could leave for study abroad any time.
My resignation was almost complete, and once all the paperwork was processed, I would be on my way to the new country.
