Chapter 26
At exactly 9 PM, the banquet hall, which had been brightly I suddenly plunged into darkness. The music cut out as well.
Moments later, several spotlights lit up the center stage, where Lily in a white strapless princess gown, wearing a diamond tiara, gracefully lifted her skirt and slowly ascended the steps. She was the star of the evening.
Four waiters in tuxedos wheeled a large cake onto the stage. Surrounded by family and friends, Lily didn’t immediately make a wish or cut the cake. Instead, she took the microphone.
“Thank you all for coming to my binhday celebration tonight,” she said, delivering the usual polite thank–you
Moira, sitting in the lounge area, was feeling bored. Her phone had been collected before entering the banquet hall, so she couldn’t chat with Zea or pass the time with a game.
After sitting for a while, she found that her back was starting to ache. Since she was already here, she decided to get up and move closer, hoping to enjoy the excitement of the high society crowd.
Bun the hall we packed, and the crowd was dense, She couldn’t push forward, so she stood at the back, straining her neck to catch a glimpse of Lily on stage. From this distance, she could still make out Lily’s features
At twenty–two, she was in the prime of her beauty. Lily’s face was youthful glowing with collagen, and her skin was flawlessly smooth, no doubt thanks to the wealth and care she received
Her face was sweet and almost doll–like, exuding a charming innocence. But her figure was equally impressive–slender yet shapely, striking the perfect balance between purity and allure. Moira thought to herself, if I were Conrad, I wouldn’t be able to resist such a beauty,
Being able to witness the romance of Eldoria’s richest man in person–and maybe even catch a glimpse of him will be something I can brag about to Zea later: Her eyes stayed fixed on the stage, as she eagerly awaited Conrad’s entrance
Since I was eighteen, I’ve had one wish. Every year, I’ve made the same wish, and this is the fifth year. Today, I hope my wish will finally come truet Lily wid.
Lily’s eyes glistened with tears, her lips trembling as she looked toward a specific spot “Conrad, I really like you. From the first moment I saw you, I fell in love with you
“I know you’ve always thought I’m too young, but I’ve grown up now. I’m twenty–two today. Could you give me a chance and let me be your girlfriend?”
The crowd immediately erupted in cheers. “Get together! Get together?”
Moira stood at the back, straining on tiptoe but still unable to spot Conrad. She followed Lily’s gaze and guessed where he might be.
“If you’re willing to give me a chance, I hope you’ll come up here and spend this birthday with me!” Lily said.
Once Lily finished speaking, the cheers quieted down. Everyone turned their attention to the spot where Conrad was supposed to be, waiting to see if he would take the stage.
