Chapter 172
Moira followed Lucas back to the banquet hall, where the atmosphere was filled with elegance and luxury. It was like stepping into an entirely different world.
Lucas led Moira to the lounge area and casually picked up a small cake, “Wait here, I’ll go find him for you.”
Moira took the cake and nodded. Watching Lucas disappear from sight, she looked at the cake in her hand, but after what had just happened, she had no appetite and put it back.
She planned to sit on the nearby sofa to wait, but as she turned, a waitress carrying a tray bumped into her spilling two glasses of wine all over her.
With a loud crash, the glasses shattered at her feet.
The waitress was so frightened that her face turned pale. Seeing Moira’s dress stained with wine, she quickly reacted, pulling out a pack of tissuri from her pocket and started wiping the dress. She apologized repeatedly, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…
Moira looked at the wine stains on her gown and the purple–red liquid dripping onto the floor. She was angry, but seeing the frightened young girl with reddened eyes, constantly apologizing. Moira thought it wasn’t intentional and suppressed her anger, saying, “It’s okay.”
She took the tissues from the girl and placed her handbag on the nearby table, trying to wipe the stains, but it wouldn’t come clean. Many people were watching her, and Moira didn’t like such attention, so she decided to leave. But she remembered that Lucas was helping her find someone. Even if she wanted to leave, she had to inform him.
Moira regretted not asking for his phone number.
“My phone is in the changing room, along with my student ID. Why don’t you wait here while I get them? I’ll pay for your dress in installments”
Hearing that the girl was a student, Moira said, “No need, I’ll see if Dean wash it out
The waitress‘ eyes flashed with disdain at the idea of washing the dress with water, but she quickly felt guilty and said, “It’s my fault for not watching where I was going. It’s really busy today”
Unable to clean the dress, Moira said. “I’ll go to the bathroom to clean up
“Okay, here’s your bag. The waitress handed her the handbag. “Do you want me to go with you?”
“No, you go ahead with your work? Moira walked quickly towards the bathroom.
At the window at the end of the corridor, Lucas leaned against the wall, lighting a cigarette. After taking a few puffs, he saw a security guard in a shit passing by with a walkie–talkie. He spoke up, “Do you have a phone I can borrow?”
Although his mother was in charge of organizing the charity banquet. Lucas had been helping out these past few days. He was even responsible for contacting the security company
The security personnel all knew him.
Soon, the security guard handed him a phone.
Lucas took out his own phone and dialed a number from his contacts. The phone rang for a while before the other end picked up.
“What’s up?” The man’s deep and cold voice sounded, making Lucas smile
“Aren’t you coming to the charity banquet tonight Mom’s been asking about you. As her son, you should at least show up to support her? There was a brief silence on the other end before a cold warning came, “Lucas, I told you not to mess with me!”
