The weight of it all crashed down on him. He had hated me for leaving him behind, but he convinced himself that he would not care at all if a lowly woman like me went away by myself, it must have been more convenient that way.

Lying carefully Jessica looked at Alex who heard her with cold eyes thus she did not think twice before spewing lies to malign the people who loved her so much that they abandoned me.
If throwing away her adopted parents. under the radar was the only way out to have Alex then she might as well do it afterall they weren’t her real mom and dad.

Jessica was rushed to the nearby hospital after she fainted and was quickly admitted to the emergency ward undergoing

said at last- she was with a child.
“Sir you can come in now, the mother and the child are healthy.” Alex nodded curtly entering the room filled with the beeping of machines and medicinal scents.

“Why did you not tell me before that you were pregnant Jessica?” His tone was devoid of warmth as he asked straightforwardly.
“I–I wanted to surprise you Alex…aren‘ t you happy?”
“I used protection and even gave you pills, then how is it possible that you are
pregnant unless you have not taken the pill knowingly?”
“W–What? How can you say that?”
Jessica‘ s tears that earlier made his heart ache now annoyed Alex to the core.
“Alex, I have loved you for so long, how can you leave me like this?” Her lips wobbled as she cried pitifully before taking his arm with trembling fingers and placing it on her stomach.

“Abandon? I am not as shameless as you and your damned brothers” Alex let out a bitter laugh. “Pray that it comes out that way or else I will ruin you Jessica!”
With that Alex turned around with tears in
his eyes, if that child was his then

While Alex was suffering from the choices. he had made, I, completely unaware of his change of heart, spent my days searching for a job to sustain myself.
