Daniel carefully thought back on how Jennifer had always had a good relationship with the family.
As the youngest sister, everyone had always adored Jennifer.
She was their precious little angel.
But when exactly had Daniel started finding Jennifer annoying and troublesome?
It seemed to have started right when Sarah joined the Hargreaves family.
“Daniel, don’t believe her nonsense. She’s just trying to drive a wedge between us siblings.”
Seeing Daniel’s expression, Sarah quickly jumped in to explain. “I know I’m just an adopted child, and I’m already lucky enough to grow up in the Hargreaves family. I never intended to compete with Jennifer for anything.”
Daniel pushed Sarah’s hand away. Right now, he couldn’t bring himself to believe her words.
Sadie continued, “Mr. Hargreaves, don’t forget that Jennifer did Sarah’s homework for all that time. Sarah manipulated Jennifer into doing it, and somehow Sarah’s hand suffered no aftereffects.”

Sarah screamed, cutting Sadie off and grabbing her clothes. “Shut up! Nobody’s going to believe a word you say.”
“Just stop talking!” she cursed inwardly.
At this point, Sarah felt murderous towards Sadie.
This bitch!”
After hearing all this, Daniel could barely process it. He staggered toward the exit.
If these accusations were true…
Then, he had been horrifically wrong all along.
No wonder Jennifer left the Hargreaves family so decisively, even cutting ties with her brothers.
He had always thought Jennifer was just being stubborn and throwing a tantrum, but now he finally realized she might have genuinely wanted to leave.
Daniel was in a complete panic.

Sarah ran out after him, only to see his retreating figure, and she too began to panic.

Sarah’s voice turned shrill. “Still better off than a broke nobody like you.”
Sadie limped out. “You’re just a housekeeper’s daughter. What’s there to be so smug about? Jennifer’s their real family member. No matter what conflicts they’ve had, they’ll always be family. But you? Once they discover your dirty tricks, they’ll kick you out for sure!”
Deep down, Sadie felt bitter. Why should Sarah, a mere housekeeper’s daughter, get to live such a cushy life?
Sarah trembled with rage. “I’m still a hundred times better than you. Enjoy your time in prison.”
“Hah, I’ll follow the Clark family’s instructions and name you as an accomplice. You won’t get away with this.”
Sadie smirked with satisfaction. “Even if I go down, I’m taking someone with me.”
“How can you be so vicious? You’ve been mooching off me this whole time, and now, when I need you, you turn around and stab me in the back?”

Sadie stormed off in a fury.
Sarah stomped her foot in frustration. It was absolutely infuriating.
She never would’ve thought Jennifer had a recording! It complicated everything.

The prison was definitely not in her plans.

Jennifer left school alongside Timothy.
She glanced at the man beside her. “Thanks for back there.”
He looked pretty handsome when he was telling people off.
Timothy pressed his lips together. “I’ve told you before, don’t get too close to guys outside. You don’t want rumors getting back to the family.”
Jennifer’s expression stiffened. “I know I messed up, but someone set this up deliberately.”
“If you hadn’t gotten so close to that guy in the first place, no one would’ve had the chance to set you up.”

She met his eyes. “You’re right. I should’ve been more careful.”
“They are bound to find out about this. You need to be ready.”
Jennifer forced a smile. “I understand. I created this mess, so I’ll explain everything to Grandma and Millie.”
“How do you plan to explain this?”
His piercing gaze bore into her like an interrogator facing a suspect.
Jennifer felt utterly humiliated. “This is my business. Stay out of it.”
Timothy pressed his tongue against his cheek, his voice ice–cold. “This isn’t just about you. I’m the one they’re all laughing at, not you!”
Jennifer turned to stare out the window, her eyes growing red with unshed tears.
She wiped her eyes with her hand. “Stop the car!”
Timothy noticed her brushing away tears and faltered for a moment. “Why are you crying? It’s not that big of a deal.”
“I’m not crying.”

Jennifer addressed the driver directly. “Pull over. I want to get
out.”
The driver didn’t dare move, instead glancing at Timothy through the rearview mirror.
Jennifer refused to even look at the man beside her. “I said I want to get out!”
Eric was sweating bullets as he looked back at the quarreling couple in the rear seat. He cleared his throat nervously. “Mr. Clark, Mrs. Clark wants to get out of the car.”
