Chapter 6
Annie
We’ve arrived at the place where we’ll be staying for the next year. It’s not a terrible place, but it’s very poor and in dire need of help. It has always been my dream to come to one of these places where we are so needed, ever since I was a student. I used to tell Liam how much I’d like to come, but he never supported me. He’s a bit of a snob, so the idea of being in a place like this didn’t appeal to him. But I remember how much I loved listening to Uncle Trevor’s stories about his experiences.
He is an admirable man. And now I’m here, about to write my own stories.
“Welcome, young doctors, and thank you for answering our call. Your knowledge is indispensable here. I hope your stay will be pleasant. Often, personal satisfaction is more motivating than monetary satisfaction, and if you’re here, it’s because you also see it that way, Please, let’s gather in two hours for a small welcome celebration, and we’ll take the opportunity to socialize with the other doctors who are with us.”

She’s beautiful and knows what she has, so I see a young black doctor looking at her with more than just curiosity. I hope she knows how to behave hem, or in a year, many hearts will be broken.

“Excuse me, can I interrupt?” The guy with green eyes is standing in front of us. My friend looks at him with curiosity. He’s very handsome, and she’s probably already thinking of him as a prospect to keep from getting bored around here.
“Hi. Sure. I’m Martha, and this is Annie. And you are?” The man gives us a commercial–worthy smile. His teeth are perfect, white, and aligned. His eyes sparkle when he smiles.
Tm Aaron Jordan, I’m a trauma doctor. Nice to meet you? He sits with us, and we start chatting, getting to know each other a bit. Though he seems serious, he makes funny jokes, even if they’re simple and silly. After a while of making us laugh, he stands up to Say goodbye.
“It was nice meeting you. Annie, are you going to the dinner tonight?” The confidence with which he speaks to me makes me blush. I look at my friend, who is watching us with curiosity. “Sorry, are you all going tonight?” He corrects himself, and my friend bursts out laughing. He fixed the phrase quickly, but not enough for her not to feel offended.
“Yes, the three of us are going 1 point to Mir in the distance. “We’re three friends.” Aaron smiles when he looks at Mir and Martha.
1 see, hahaha. Yes, you all look very alike. It was nice meeting you, see you in a bit.”
Aaron leaves, and my friend stares at me intently.
“Context.” That’s all she says, and I start laughing, telling her about our brief encounter on the plane: I think her interest in him just went down the drain. Now Martha has to find a new victim
I take out one of the few dresses I brought. It’s not elegant at all. It’s a simple dress, and I even wear flat shoes, but I try to fix my hair a bit to look presentable I share a room with the girls. They’re already ready when I come out. They should have told me they were bringing nice dresses, and I would have packed one too
Come on, come on, girl, we’re going to be late and miss out on the best prospects. I look at them with inquisitive eyes. “Well, we know we’re here to do social work, but that doesn’t mean we have to behave like nuns. You have an excuse with that little Liam on the way, but we don’t.”
Little Liam? How do you know it’s a boy? Lask Mir curiously. She smiles slightly
1 don’t know, but I have a feeling. Of course, that egocentric guy will want his surname to continue. And I’m also sure he’ll be just like that idiot.” My friend speaks with such conviction that I also think it will be a boy. I touch my belly. A little Liam. He’ll surely be very handsome
“Angel. His name will be Angel. And if it’s a girl, Sandra” tell them, and they come closer to me and hug me.

“Hello, little Angel We’re the beautiful twin aunts who are going to spoil you. We love you, little one” Tears stream down my face. I love that these crazies are with me and have so much love for us. They left their families for me. What more proof do I need to know how important I am to them? I hug them both.
“Thank you, girls. I don’t know what I would do without you. The three of us are crying, but they pull away because they’ll ruin their makeup. The tender moment is broken by their desire to look spectacular as always, bah! hahaha.
When we arrive at the place where the welcome celebration will be held, I see that everyone looks very handsome. In the next 365 days, we’ll only know each other in lab coats, so it’s good to meet them like this. While I’m thinking about that, someone touches my shoulder gently.
1 can’t believe you look more beautiful than this morning, but I see it’s possible.” I turn to see the person speaking to me. I open my mouth a bit in surprise to see Aaron. I can’t deny that he looks stunning
“Wow, a good shower does change people. Oh no! We’re not that close, and I’m already teasing him. However, he just bursts out laughing.

He lowers his gaze but quickly lifts it. “Well, I didn’t see you exactly like you look, but before we came, I dreamed I would meet someone special. And I’m sure it’s you. I hope you’ll let me be by your side and take care of you. Would you let me?” I can’t respond to his strange confession, but it doesn’t bother me. Without thinking, I just nod. And that’s how this man entered my life.
