Got it, Mr. Lauder.” Damien nodded. He cracked his neck and crouched before Liana.
Liana stared at him, backing away fearfully from his muscular build.
Damien clenched his fists. He had thrown a flurry of punches within minutes. His strikes were quick, each one hitting the mark.
Liana was sprawled on the ground, barely hanging on. She shot Gwyneth a jealous glare. “How did you end up with a guy better than Asher after he went bankrupt? How the hell?”
She just couldn’t get it. She wasn’t any worse than Gwyneth.
Gwyneth curled into Kleran’s arms. Kieran wanted to rush her to the hospital, but she pressed his hand down. “Let me talk to her.”
Kieran pursed his lips, understanding she knew the extent of her own injuries.
Gwyneth shot Llana a cold stare. “The biggest difference between us is that you’re always looking for the easy way out, relying on inen to get ahead. You stuck by Asher for nine years because you believed you’d end up as his wife.

“You’re so broken now because all the fantasies you had for so long have been shattered. So, you risked everything to ruin me today just to save your reputation. You assumed I’m terrified. of death.”
Liana’s plan would play out if Gwyneth were terrified of dying. The reason she stabbed Gwyneth wildly was because she lost control of herself. She was just a greedy woman who couldn’t stop wanting more.
Liana lay on the ground as the police sirens echoed below. She cried, not because of Gwyneth, but because a long prison sentence awaited her.
Kieran quickly carried Gwyneth downstairs.
Asher showed up just after they left. He stared at the empty rooftop, resentment flashing in his eyes.
He was always one step behind. He wondered if Gwyneth would’ve forgiven him if he’d gotten there just a minute sponer.
A nurse tended to Gwyneth’s wounds at the hospital.
“Will she be left with scars on her face?” Kieran asked.
The nurse blushed, clearly smitten by how handsome Kieran was. She lowered her head and whispered, “Yes, probably, but it should fade over time with scar cream or cosmetic treatments.”
Kieran frowned. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he hadn’t gone hard enough on Liana. Luckily, the knife wounds on Gwyneth weren’t deep. The main concern was whether her face would scar. Once her wounds were treated and she had the medication, Kieran drove her home. They were pulling up to the gated community when they spotted Asher standing by the villa’s entrance from a distance. He was carrying a suitcase.
Kieran narrowed his eyes and turned to Gwyneth in the passenger seat. “You want to talk to him?”
“No,” Gwyneth shook her head.
Kieran didn’t drive straight into the villa. He looked at her. “Go sort things out with him and end it for good, Wyn.”
His voice was smooth and captivating.
Gwyneth gave it a moment’s thought and said, “right.”
She had just gotten out of the car when Asher rushed over with the suitcase. Kieran was just a short distance away, waiting quietly.

Asher’s heart twisted when he saw how pale Gwyneth looked. “Wyn, I heard Liana took you this afternoon, and I rushed over as fast as I could, but you were already gone by then.” Gwyneth pursed her lips and sneered. “You’re never on time. Maybe we’re just not meant to be.
Kieran showed up fast because he knew she’d just stepped out to take the trash but hadn’t returned after a few minutes. Realizing something was off, he quickly checked the surveillance footage and followed the lead to the rooftop.
The difference between someone who cared and someone who didn’t was pretty clear.
Asher went pale. He opened the suitcase and pulled out a thick stack of photos. “I know I was wrong. I returned to our high school two months ago and met with our teachers, then visited our college and met our advisor.
“Wyn, everyone thinks we’re married and have kids. They are all asking me to bring you back to school to visit. Lobk. I even went to the amusement park where we had our first official date.
“You were just 19 years old back then. I even went to the city where we took our first trip together, and it’s snowing there now.”
He paused, his voice catching. “I
He paused, his voice catching. “I went to all the places we used to go,
and the trip has been so
lonely. I realized how wrong I was. Remember how you always said you wanted to see the snow? I got the flight tickets, What do you say we leave tomorrow?”
