Chapter 129
once on the door and waited, but when she didn’t hear anything, she gathered her courage and knocked again
Moira knocked on
She thought to herself, Is he already asleep?
Holding a glass of honey water, she glanced down at her silk nightgown. In this weather, it still felt a bit chilly.
She turned to leave, but after taking a couple of steps, she hesitated. She had come all this way dressed like this; she was so close, and besides, he had looked so angry earlier.
Moira bit her lip, then turned back and grabbed the doorknob. Taking a deep breath, she gently twisted it and opened the door slightly. She could see the light was still on, but the bed was empty.
She pushed the door open a little more and glanced toward the bathroom. The door was ajar, burit looked empty inside.
Suddenly, a gaze locked onto her, impossible to ignore. Moira, as if sensing it, turned her head and saw Virgil standing by the floor–to–ceiling window, holding half a cigarette. His gaze was warm but intense.
Moira met his eyes. feeling unexpectedly guilty.
“Is something wrong?” he asked.
“I just brought you some honey water she replied.
Moira opened the door fully, revealing herself in her soft, pink silk nightgown. The moment she stepped into the room, she was fully exposed to Virgil’s gaze.
This nightgown, compared to the other two she owned, was somewhat more modest. But even so, it still bordered on lingerie territory–its thin straps, the way it accentuated her chest, and the hem that barely reached her thighs,
Moira had just finished her shower. Her long, dark hair was half dried and draped over her shoulders, and her face still had a faint, rosy flush from the hot water. She wasn’t wearing any makeup, but her fair skini was glowing with natural radiance
The pink silk made her look younger than her actual age, though her body was clearly shaped by time.
They had shared a night together before. Moira was a bit disorientell at the time, but Virgil had been fully aware. He still remembered every detail of that night, even the intense pleasure and satisfaction
Moira tried her best to ignore the increasingly heated gaze coming from Virgil. She bent slightly to place the honey water on the coffee table, then stood upright, maintaining her composure. “Get some rest,” she said.
Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away.
Virgil said, “Come here.”
Moira’s heart skipped a beat. She stopped in her tracks, her face burning with heat. Hesitantly, she asked, “You want me to come over?” Virgil raised an eyebrow, “Is there a third person here?”
Even though desire had stirred within him, Virgil still held himself with the same dignified, almost aloof air, like someone who was untouchable and in control.
Moira’s eyes shifted away nervously. She bit her lip before slowly taking a step forward. When she was two–steps away from him, she stopped and Jooked up at him, asking. “Is there something you need?”
Despite the little stir of thoughts she was hiding deep inside, her gaze remained innocent and unguarded. Virgil lowered his gaze to meet hers, eyes tracing her flawless, fair face, then moving down to her neck with its graceful curve, her delicate collarbone, and then… further down.
Moira had thought he called her over for something more direct, something more intimate. She hadn’t expected him to do anything but stand the staring at her in such an open, almost insolent way.
his
Unable to bear it, she turned her ligad away, desperately trying to push down the rush of shame building inside her. But her cheeks were flushed bright red, as if they’d been scalded, the warmth creeping all the
way to her car.
Virgil could clearly see her nervousness. He licked the ash off his cigarette and said coolly, “Aren’t you cold?
Moira heard the subtle mockery in his voice. She bit her lip, then turned hack around. Under the bright lights, she could clearly see his handsome face. On the surface, he looked too calm, almost unnervingly calm. But in his gaze, there was something deeper, something intense and shadowed.
