Chapter 135
After sending the customer off, Irene turned around, her face stern. Ms. Elliott, even though the company doesn’t take commissions from design fees, how could you charge only 380 dollars? Don’t you realize that’s undercutting If word gets out, how are the other designers supposed to explain this to their clients? Have you even considered the consequences?”
Moira had lowered the design fee because she knew the young lady was from a single–parent family. It wasn’t easy for them to save up, and they had finally managed to put down 140,000 dollars as a deposit for a two–bedroom apartment. It reminded Moira of her own struggles with her mother, and she couldn’t help but empathize, so she decided to take less
Knowing she was in the wrong. Moira lowered her voice and said, I’m sorry”
“You’re new here, so I understand you’re trying to attract clients by lowering your fees. But look at what happened! Even after you gave them a discount, they didn’t appreciate it. Now they’ve canceled the deposit, and the factory has already started production on the cabinets. The company has to absorb the loss…
“Trene, go make me a coffee, Baldwin interrupted her.
Irene stopped mid–sentence, shooting a cold glare at Moira before walking away.
Baldwin stepped closer and said gently, “Don’t take it to heart. Refunds like this happen all the time–we’re used to it. You’ll encounter situations like this again, so try not to dwell on it.”
Moira replied, “Trene’s right. I shouldn’t have lowered the design fee. It affects everyone
else,”
Baldwin smiled, “You meant well. Consider it a lesson for next time. Just be mindful in the future,” Moira nodded and returned to her office,
The entire day, whenever Moira wasn’t busy with work, her thoughts kept drifting back to Virgil’s reaction that morning when she confessed her feelings.
He hadn’t shown any emotion, not even the slightest hint of happiness. It made Moira wonder–did he even like her at all!
Maybe his jealousy was only because she was legally his wife, and he didn’t want to be embarrassed.
The thought left Moira frustrated, unsure how to face him in the future.
Uncertain about how to deal with it, Moura decided to buy groceries after work and head to Zea’s place to cook dinner.
When she knocked on the door and got no response, she pulled out her key and let herself in, only to find the apartment empty.
A wave of worry swept over her. She immediately took out her phone and dialed Zea
The i
call connected quickly. “Zea, where are you? Why aren’t you home?” she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
“I went out to run an errand. I’ll be back in about 15 minutes,” Zea replied.
“Alright” Moira said with a sigh of relief. After hanging up, she organized the groceries in the fridge, took out the ingredients for dinner, and started cooking.
By the time Zea got home, Moira had prepared three dishes and a soup.
“Wash your hands–it’s time to eat Moira said,
Zea, after washing her hands, sat at the table and asked, “Why are you here today!”
Moira handed her a knife and fork. “I told you yesterday I’d only go back for one day.”
Zea sighed. “You’ve been with me for so many days, and your husband already has opinions. Now you’re here again. He’s probably going to hate
me
“No, you’ve got it wrong. He’s not mad at you?
“Sure, k
