Chapter 149
you
may leave us now. We’ll order later” Virgil told the waiter.
After the waiter closed the door and left, he looked at Moira with his deep eyes and said slowly, “Moira, what do you want to talk about?”
When Moira heard this, her heart could not help but ache. She pursed her lips and looked up into Virgil’s eyes. She asked word by word, “Virgil, have you ever lied to me?”
A deep look flashed across Virgil’s eyes. He vaguely guessed something. But he looked straight into Moira’s eyes and denied, “No.”
Moira really wanted to believe this answer. She hoped that Lily had made a mistake and that her husband was Virgil, not the richest man in Eldoria.
However, the photos we
were clear. And Lily insisted that Virgil was Conrad
Moira’s gaze suddenly landed on Virgil’s wristwatch. She suddenly said, “Can you show me your watch“”
“Yeah.” Virgil took off his watch and handed it to Moira
Moira took out her phone and took a photo of his watch.
Virgil watched each of her moves, but he did not stop her.
Moira quickly found the brand of his watch on the online store. It was from Patek Philippe. It was not the same watch, but the letters on the surface
were the same.
Virgil’s watch looked thicker and more exquisite. There was no matching model. It was probably customized or limited edition, which meant it could be more expensive.
Moira returned the watch and put down her phone. She picked up the cup in front of her and took a sip of coffee but still couldn’t suppress her anger. She looked up and said, “You earn one thousand dollars a month, how did you afford a Patek Philippe with that? And that car, is it really your boss car!”
Virgil’s thin lips moved. He wanted to say something, but before he could say anything, Moira interrupted him agitatedly, “You don’t want to tell me how much your income is and how much money your family has. I can understand why you hid it from me. After all, we got married in a flash. We didn’t even know each other before we registered our marriage. We don’t know what kind of person the other person is. I can accept it if you are careful. I don’t blame you. But marrying me with a fake name and fake ID is a bit too much. Why did you do that”
The more Moira spoke, the more agitated she became. In the end, her eyes were already red, but her expression was even colder. Her voice seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth. “Virgil, no, I should call you Conrad. How did I offend you? Why are you playing with me like this?”
She racked her brains but could not think of any interactions between her and Conrad.
She choked and said, “If you just want to have some fun, there are so many pretty women in line for you. Why did you lie to me?”
She covered her face with one hand and sobbed uncontrollably. She’d always thought she’d been lucky enough to break up with the scumbag and find a handsome and capable husband, Virgil was so good to her that she had almost fallen in love with him.
But in the end, he was just playing with her. He had a fancée. His name was not Virgil. He was Conrad.
Moira’s disappointment was beyond words. She just wanted to live a simple life with a simple man. She didn’t understand why she had encountered such a person.
Conrad had expected that Moira would eventually discover his identity, and he was prepared to explain himself. He had originally thought he could approach the situation calmly. But Moira’s tears stirred something within him, making him feel a pang of guilt.
